Anybody have to take this fun thing? I am taking it today and losing my mind over it. I was doing fine until last night when I took a practice test and scored about 200 points below my minimum goal...woo-freaking-hoo

Well, it certainly put me in the right mood for Halloween weekend! Once I left the testing center my mind was saying "Drink... drink now, and drink fast..."... But all in all it went pretty well. i also finsished in 3 hours somehow... still not sure how that happened. Also, I am not sure how I did so much better on the math than the verbal... My math scores were way over the required scores for all the grad schools I want to apply to, but the verbal were just right on. This wouldn't seem so strange to me if my major wasn't psychology

Once upon a time, I took the General and the Engineering GREs. I did great on the former, but dismally on the latter. Must be why I'm not doing engineering for a living right now.

I took it two weeks ago.....I was proud of myself for finishing in 3 hours instead of the 4 they said it would take.

I just took it last week. it was definitelyone of the more pointless tests I have taken as far as applicable knowledge. The writing section was a good opportunity to exercise my thinking ability but unfortunately it was not realistic.
I typically never get nervous for tests because, atfer all, I'll either do well or not do well. that's all; no reason to get nuts. I did well enough to get into the schools I wanna get into. I hope you succeeded.

I'm going to have to take that probably within the next year myself. Good luck, and let us know how you do!

Good luck! The key is not freaking yourself out studying for it. I didn't study at all for it. just went and took it and did great on it. Most people I know who did alot of those practice tests bombed it the first time and developed ulcers. This info is prolly a little late for you but hope you did well anyway.

Basically the GRE is a money making tool for the Dept of Ed. The GRE practice classes and materials are high ticket items that don't always help. Many colleges and universities don't even look at your test scores but require you to have taken it??? Interesting. I was accepted at Johns Hopkins BEFORE I took the GRE's between prior GPA and work experience, BUT if I accepted I had to agree to take the test. Tell me what thats all about. Just a small hoop you gotta jump thru to educate yourself. Later the hoop will be on fire with 6 foot flames in graduate school or when your standing in front of an audience of very dry, conservative professors that couldn't smile if their lives depended on it, defending your thesis and/or dissertation.

have fun now :)
hope you kicked butt on it
