Unbelievable. FINALLY a team that I've liked since I was a kid wins a national championship. Who would have thought after the 19-8 rout by the Yankees, that they'd win the next 8 games in both a reverse sweep and a sweep of the team with the most wins in baseball.

I don't know what to do with myself now. Always love the underdogs, which worked out well considering I'm a Boston/Buffalo fan. Four superbowls in a row, now the worst team in the NFL. 86 years without a championship. Never a Stanley Cup. Now this. LOL, I can't complain for a year!

Gotta wonder what's going on in Beantown now. Parade is scheduled for Friday...they might as well close down all the businesses. Here's to hoping that it's peaceful enough that no one gets killed.

I messed up..... I put this reply in the wrong thread. Man its been a long weekend.

We will keep Pedro, I'd put money on it and Schilling has 2 years left on his contract. If his surgery fails, he will be useless. I'd say we will probably only let 2 of the 17 free agents go, Meintkevich, and Kapler. Doesn't free up much money but I think it's very important to the owners to try to keep as much of the dream team in tact as they can. Pedro wants to stat now and I want him to. I thought we may try to can Manny to free up some money but not now that he is MVP.

The parade was excellent. The team rode in the famous duck boats and instead of a rally at city hall, they opted to have a "rolling rally" and then the procession then went right out into the Charles River for a mile. It was great. Very few arrests and even fewer injuries. Less than 100 total incidents. In a crowd of 3.5 Million+ I'd say Love was in the air. The best part for me was to see David Ortiz standing smack dab in the middle of his duck boat, larger than life, with this teeny tiny bright orange life vest around his neck. It looked like a scarf on him. I laughed so hard... like anyone would let him drown. Some idiots even jumped into the river as they went by. They say the river is cleaned up but man... it still looks like lightly creamed coffee. Pedro got hit in the head by a fan who threw a baseball. He was on the news last night (the thrower) and let me tell you, he feels like shit. Bill Buckner is pretty tiffed as well. Gotta feel bad for a guy who's family and children were threatened to the point that he had to pack his shit and move away just because of an error in a GAME. He was on the news as well, pretty bent about being "forgiven". He said... "for what?"... "what did I do that I need a giant group of strangers to forgive me for?" Gotta feel bad for that guy. Not to mention Nomar.

Now that I disagree with. I think the Yankees dynasty is over and the Red Sox will be a perennial powerhouse. The payroll is high, but nowhere near the Yankees. They're actually a team, not just a collection of great players. Schilling said that he thinks they never would have won if they had Alex Rodriguez and I completely agree. When teams buy their championships outright (Yankees, Lakers, etc.), the fans and players expect to win. That's one of about 10 billion reasons I'm glad that I'm not a Yankee fan. When they win, it's nothing more than the expected.

Granted, Pedro could be gone and Schilling could have some serious problems...but the core is still solid. Their pitching is phenomenal and teams like the Yankees have nothing more than a few decent starters and the best closer of all time. They don't have guys like Schilling and Pedro. Granted, next year they'll roll the brinks truck up to Beltran's house and grab a decent starter...but I think their dynasty is done. $20 on Red Sox to win it all in '05!

One warning I have for Red Sox fans, when the Rangers went 54 years without winning a Cup they had a mystique of failure and losing, much like the supposed "curse" that may have kept it interesting. Since the Rangers have won that Cup a decade ago, their payroll has skyrocketed and their playoff appearances have become non-existant, and fan interest has obviously dwindled. I don't wish this upon the Red Sox, but now that your curse is over, and your payroll bloated, you may not have to look much farther than New York for your future.

One day... the Jays will bring it back to Toronto...

I didn't know a thing about the Sox before the past few weeks and I don't care for baseball. However, watching them com back from 0-3 and sweep SL was quite a stunt no matter what sport you fancy.

!!!bring back hockey!!!
