To be honest, I think Kerry is a pud, and I don't want to vote for him. The only thing that makes me want to is the fact that I do not want there to be a military draft, which I've heard is on the horizon under a Bush administration.

I know there are 99.9% of you here that are more up to speed politically than I am. What are the real possibilities of a draft?

i'm not a big fan of guns. there's something cold and impersonal about shooting someone. it's also kind of dainty, if you ask me, which you did. nothing beats a sound beating.
guitarisPIMP Posted - 11/01/2004 : 8:22:25 PM
maybe not very violent, but he's got spine. Don't doubt for a second that that kind of guts wouldn't be able to pull the trigger of a machine gun.
dan p. Posted - 10/31/2004 : 7:19:42 PM
still not violent.
Zachmozach Posted - 10/31/2004 : 5:53:04 PM
Ya I remember something about that.

Just found this on Encarta:

World War II began in 1939 as a conflict between Germany on one side and Britain and France on the other; the United States entered the war in December 1941 after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The war eventually included most of the nations of the world and ended in 1945.

Kennedy hoped to fight in the war but in the spring of 1941 he was rejected by the U.S. Army because of a back injury he had received at Harvard. Determined to see active service, he passed the U.S. Navy physical examination after a five-month program of special exercise.

Early in 1943 Kennedy became commander of PT Boat 109 in the South Pacific. In August 1943 the boat was rammed by a Japanese destroyer in waters off New Georgia in the Solomon Islands. The boat was sliced in half and 2 of the 13 men aboard were killed. Kennedy and the other survivors clung for hours to the wreckage, hoping for rescue. When none came, they swam to a small island 5 km (3 mi) away. Kennedy towed a wounded crew member by clenching the long strap of the injured man’s life jacket between his teeth.

For the next four days, Kennedy swam along a water route that he knew American ships used. He finally encountered friendly natives on Cross Island. They brought his message for help, carved on a coconut shell, to U.S. infantry patrol and Kennedy and his crew were finally rescued. For his “courage, endurance, and excellent leadership,” Kennedy received the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Medal, awarded for heroism not involving conflict with the enemy. Then, because of an attack of malaria and the recurrence of his back disorder, Kennedy returned to the United States for medical treatment.

John F. Kennedy was in the Navy; he commanded a boat: PT 109. Hollywood made a movie about it. I think he was injured during the war, but I'm not positive what the details are.

"How the fuck did you two fucking fucks.......fuck!!!!"
"Well....that certainly illustrates the diversity of the word."

Fuckity fuck fuck fuck.

dan p. Posted - 10/30/2004 : 12:31:13 PM
he probably wasn't. pretty boys don't fight. what did he do in the service. my grandfathers were in wwII, one was shot in the back and the other worked with radios, trasmitting weather reports and things.

also, now that i think about it, kevin, you can dispense with "f*ck." we all know you mean "fuck." censoring a word doesn't take away its meaning. "f*ck" and "fuck" mean the same thing. we're all big boys and girls here. if you want to swear, swear. you're not going to be banned.
Zachmozach Posted - 10/29/2004 : 10:46:47 PM
I wonder if JFK was violent during WWII. I have to admit that I don't know all that much about his service stories and crap but that's just because I don't think it means a damn thing to anyone but his posterity who want to hear aobut there president.
dan p. Posted - 10/29/2004 : 7:22:46 PM
what's this? a republican making fun of bill clinton and monica lewinsky? what a fucking shock. get over it. it happened, we made our jokes, it had its effect, it's over now. find something else to rag on liberals and democrats for. i'm sick of hearing about it.
Kevin Posted - 10/29/2004 : 2:37:02 PM
Liberals (and most democrats, for that matter) have no spine. I mean, Clinton just stood around, and every now and than he would complain to Saddam about being mean to people...

...the only time Clinton was violent was when he face-f*cked Lewinsky lol
dan p. Posted - 10/29/2004 : 12:47:17 PM
they don't. even if we consider him a liberal, he still had other people do violent things. he himself, as a liberal, wasn't known for violent behavior. he was a lover, not a fighter. if liberals have the spine to be violent, don't you think they would have done something by now? i mean, look at how huge some of these protests are. and no one's kicking ass? no, liberals don't have it in them to be violent.
Arthen Posted - 10/29/2004 : 12:05:36 AM
I'm gonna say something that always bothers people. JFK was a crap president.
Zachmozach Posted - 10/28/2004 : 11:14:25 PM
Oh but dan liberals defintely have the spine to be violent. Just look at the violence caused by the last liberal presidents especially JFK. JFK and his operation mongoose and all his little covert terrorist wars and nuclear proliferation. He was a violent bastard. Then again he might not be considered a liberal I guess it's all a matter of perspective.
Zachmozach Posted - 10/28/2004 : 11:11:43 PM
Hahaha. I hate to admit it but they would win. They all have guns and big trucks. The military too I might add.
Arthen Posted - 10/28/2004 : 03:56:39 AM
And republicans already have all of the guns as it is.
dan p. Posted - 10/28/2004 : 01:53:59 AM
because liberals don't have spine enough to be violent.
Arthen Posted - 10/28/2004 : 01:12:34 AM
If there's a civil war, the Republicans will win.
dan p. Posted - 10/27/2004 : 7:47:19 PM
i would like to see that.
Fleabass76 Posted - 10/27/2004 : 7:19:32 PM
Does anybody else think we may be closer than we've been in a long time to civil war? Of course, that is not very realistic, but at least mass public uprising? For one thing, if the election is anywhere close to as screwed up as it was four years ago, which it could be, the people will take to the streets. For another, if there is any kind of draft instated, however unlikely, there will be even more people in the streets.

I mean, either way, I'm getting that new flatscreen TV and upright bass, so its all good.

You can quote Bush on that too. He said it himself earlier this month:

"I applaud the House of Representatives for soundly rejecting the 'Reinstate the Draft' bill, sponsored by Congressman Rangel in the House and Senator Hollings in the Senate. If this bill were presented to me, I would veto it. America's all-volunteer military is the best in the world, and reinstating the draft would be bad policy. We have increased pay and benefits to ensure that our troops have the resources they need to fight and win the war on terror. I want every American to understand that, as long as I am President, there will be no draft."

dan p. Posted - 10/27/2004 : 2:52:44 PM
there won't be a draft for all the reasons everyone stated. and even if there is, i'll enstate a counter draft and fight them.
Arthen Posted - 10/27/2004 : 2:28:07 PM
The Draft will not happen. You can quote me on that. The public outcry would be huge, first of all. Secondly, as Teri pointed out in another post, the military doesn't want the draft, because they get stuck with a lot of people who don't want to be there, who won't be efficient, and will probably cause more harm than good.

If a draft situation was going to happen, it would be inevitable so that either side would have to implement it. Not just Bush.
LoveToday Posted - 10/27/2004 : 12:32:44 PM
I don't think that they could realistically enstate a draft. In the US now, we have made leaps and bounds regarding equal rights. If they tried to draft, they would have to draft everyone from all walks of life. They wouldn't be able to single out 18-25 year old men anymore. Which means that single parents, junkies, even the extremely obese would have to be drafted. Women would have to be included, 18 year olds who have spent the last 6 years on ridalin or prozac. What about people with green cards who are not totally citizens but live here and enjoy the safety and benefits of the United States? They should have to step up to the plate and fight too right? And how many translators would have to be included with each troop to be able to accomodate that? I just think its WAY too big of a task and I think it would cause a social upheaval of huge proportion. But I never thought I'd see liquor stores open on sunday either so what do I know?

The bush draft will consist of you gettin put into the texas national guard. and you can leave when ever you want really.... so it wont be that bad.
