Anybody been keeping up with the setlists this tour? There's some pretty funny stuff in there. Some of my favorites are Stranger With Swollen Glands, Turn It Into A Positive Drug Experiment, No Other Tards, etc...

Hey Fluffy, what's the obsession with urine in this the setlist for 10/8/01... is there a story or is Tim just being his funny self?... whatever the inspiration it's hilarious.

Peace,
Patrick

Hey Silky, Great observation on the differences between crowds and audiences. Very well put. By the way, Danger Big Jon Bootay finally made it onto the 2nd to last(I think) setlist of the tour. I will be posting those to Soldo very soon. Look for them.

Fluffy it's all good... we thought it was kinda funny. And I've noticed the monkey phenomenon at many concerts in the past... the artist can litterally say "Boo" into the mic and the crowd will cheer, if they're psyched. I've also noticed that there's a distict difference between a crowd and an audience... Crowds are noisy and disrespectful... audiences pay attention.

By the way... if anyone likes Devon, they should check out Jennifer Nettles Band. She has the sound that Devon seems to be searching for... kinda like what you might expect Devon to be like a while down the road when she matures (musically). It's some good stuff.

Hey Silky!
Sorry about that in front of the Georgia Theater. My eyes are scanning the area(like a secret serviceman) trying to get Tim out to dinner before he gets mobbed. We find if you stop moving, a crowd forms. As I crossed the street, I commented to Tim and Rew that I just embarressed myself by saying that to you. I did remember you right after I said it. I felt like a real heel! SORRY! Glad you liked the show. As for the video camera, that belonged to Jess, Devons tour manager. She recorded the first hour of the show for us. Funny you would use the word apeshit. Tim has been going off about being a performing monkey lately. It suddenly struck him, after reading something in a book, that what he does is really no different than the behavior of wild apes in the jungle. The main monkey waves his arm(in this case over the guitar) and all the other monkeys start flailing there arms and cheering. Tim has cracked himself up on stage over it lately. I think he even mentioned something about monkey brain at the Charleston SC gig. Rew had TR in stitches at the Lincoln Theater show. We had just been talking about the whole performing monkey thing in the dressing room and Rew escorted Tim to the stage in his best Planet of the Apes imitation. TR could not stop laughing. Rew and i did it again tonite at the Asheville show. I think the audiences think we are nutz. Actually, they are right, WE ARE!!! Glad to hear you are also a Buckaroo Banzai fan. My dad is also a big fan, My dad is so kewl!

At the Dallas show, scrawled at the bottom of the setlist in huge letters was BIG FUCKING MESS. Some guy looked at me and said, "Does that say Fucking Mess? What does that mean?”

I told him it was Tim's new single and would air on TRL next week. The sad thing is, he believed me.

We're going to Vegas to croak a scag baron named Savage Henry. I've known him for years but he ripped us off. And you know what that means...

Hehe... Fluffy sorry we didn't stop by to say hello in Athens on Tuesday, it was just so loud when the second band started there would have been no way to talk. We did say hi when you guys came out the front before the show but you obviously didn't remember us from Saturday (YOU BASTARD!). You were just like, "Hi hi good to meet ya" and just kept walking. It was pretty funny. I figure you must meet so many people at every show it is impossible to remember every one. Tim definitely tore shit up though at that show... we once again were the very front people and I swear there was a point where I saw a tiny puff of smoke come from his pick when he was just going apeshit. I also thought I saw a camera at the soundboard... was anyone taping? I can't wait to hear some recordings from this leg of the tour. And I honestly thought I was about the only one who has ever seen that Buckaroo Bonzai movie... I am impressed.

The setlists are definitely a collaborative effort, but most of it is TR. That guy is so funny. Major Kudos to Silky again for solving my question. That movie rocks. It cums up all the time in conversations. In fact the last time was on the way back to Tipitina's after dinner. TR and I think we need to have a Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension party.

Cool, I always just figured that it was Tim Reynolds who wrote out they funny setlists. (I remember on and old Dave and Tim Show, Dave told a story about how Tim got ahold of his setlist and renamed all the songs to kinky titles) Whoever writes them though, they are halarious!

Silky The Pimp Posted - 11/15/2001 : 08:52:37 AM
Is it from Buck Bonzai (or something like that)... where Christopher Lloyd is that evil guy that gets pissed at everyone for mispronouncing his name as "John Big Booty" ... and there are goofy aliens and a possessed Italian scientist and all sorts of goofy rescue shit? I don't remember the phrase "Danger John Big Booty" but I remember the name was supposed to be French or something to that effect, kinda like "John Bigbooté."

OK Silky, Danger Will Robinson is obviously from Lost in Space, but I was asking about my bastardization, Danger John Bigbootay. Anyone know? It is a little more obscure. Good Luck!

forgot to comment on Danger Will Rammstein. This songs first appearance on the setlist was as the oh so obvious, Danger Will Robinson. Everything else is a bastardazation on a theme. I have not had an opportunity to add my fave interpretation of this one yet, watch for it. Danger Jon Bigbootay! TR and i are huge fans of the movie from which this was stolen. Anyone know what it is? Put your thinking caps on. Might be out of reach for some of the younger folk.

As far as the urine goes, we are basically Bevis and Butthead on the road. It amuses us to joke about such things. I don't remember the specifics of that night offhand, but I will look at the setlist and see if something comes back to me. Where was that setlist from? That might jog my memory. Although urine, feces and goo come up alot in our day to day goofiness. Something else everyone should keep in mind, Tim comes up with the initial setlist and then Rew and i copy it over and make small changes and sometimes leave them as TR wrote it. 9 times out of 10 it is Mr Rew copying it over and adding his collaborative effort. They definitely are funny. I can't wait to read the final product. When it is done. We have definately come up with some bizarre ones. Also just for the record, the picks thing was of course Rews idea. The man with a pocketful of Tim picks.

Oh heck yeah, I get the biggest kick out of reading those... "Letting Goo" "As Far as we can Pee" there are endless amounts of comedy in those setlists.

Tim's creative mind never ceases to amaze me! He obviously spends a lot of time writing them. The picks add a nice touch, too! Liz
