hey everyone,
just bought and watched Outfoxed from www.outfoxed.org

Everyone has to see this movie...I am telling you that we all know someone who has been brutally brainwashed by this company that owns 75% of all media outlets...

we have to stop this, it is really getting bad. I worry for my family, my friends, and especially my nephew...

the fox news channel has corrupted millions of peoples views and continue to state they are "fair and balanced"...

please check out http://www.outfoxed.org

buy it if you can, if you can't afford it, I will buy it for you(if you are serious)...

thank you

Rubylith, you'd be glad to know that that DVD is selling very well, I know that it is currently the 7th best selling DVD at Virgin, I'd never heard about it until I printed up a best sellers report and saw it up there. You might also be interested in a DVD called USA the Movie by Zinn, the guy who wrote the HIstory of the USA book. Amazon sells the two DVDs as a pack.

First of all I would agree that Clinton is a douchebag as well but that's doesn't have anything to do with this.

I'm saying they should be less liberal and more factual.

I think it should be completely non-partisan and balanced with in depth analysis and people who ask tough questions. However to say that the media is way more liberal or way more conservitive is ridiculous. The fact that the news can be called conservitive or liberal though is a problem but not the biggest. The big problem is the corporate aspect of our news. The major media sucks a fat one. The coverage of the war by pretty much every major news network and major papers was terrible. The Times even apoligized for it's coverage of the Iraqi war and occupation. How it kept letting Judith Miller publish articles is beyond me. If you want good news then don't tune into corporate news that has an obvious corporate agenda.

My dad used watch O'reily all the time and I hated his show just because he was a terrible host. Of course I have different ideals than him but he doesn't even let people debate on his show. He just pushes his stuff. Whereas I turn on Democracy Now and I see Amy Goodman reporting stuff that's not on mass media all the time and when they bring in people to debate she only asks questions and moderates. She lets people talk. My whole point is that don't count on a huge corporation to put on a news show that is going to tell the truth.
dan p. Posted - 07/29/2004 : 6:22:22 PM
how you can sit there and tell me that the news is liberal while others are saying it's clearly conservative is beyond me. that's like two people staring at a pair of socks and one says "those are white." and the other says "those are black." it can't be both, people.

i don't know what news you're watching, and i don't know what news anyone else is watching, but it must be something like "all liberal all the time" and "all conservative all time" news stations. if you reject the idea that it's actually not too much of either, then the only possible way this argument can happen is if everyone's run out of things to complain about.

i said it then, and i'll say it now: bill clinton is an idiot. he could have killed monica lewinsky like gary condit did to cassandra levy. no one would have found her missing and gone "the president did it!" but no. master clinton had to let her tell her ugly friends.

In regards to the media being more liberal or conservative...I don't think there's any question that the majority of news networks are distinctly liberal. I never said they should be more conservative, I don't agree with that at all. I'm saying they should be less liberal and more factual. How news can not be entirely fact based is beyond me. I guess that doesn't sell newspapers.

let's fucking boycott canada. wow. wow.

what kills me is that in the stores, when you see a product from a company from canada, that company has already made money for the product on the shelf. not buying it hurts the american store, not the company.
Zachmozach Posted - 07/29/2004 : 5:39:19 PM
Last I heard he wanted to boycott everything Canadian because they gave refuge to some american soldier who wouldn't fight in Iraq. So he was going to be charged and he went to Canada. Canada won't give him to us or something so O'Reily wants to boycott Canada. That's what my friend told me so I'm not sure it's all 100% accurate.
dan p. Posted - 07/29/2004 : 5:36:06 PM
yeah, but the boycott thing pisses me off more.

So true. The biggest problem is not that media sways to much one way or the other but that the media in America are all large corporations that support that sectors ideas and views. I mean every news channel is basically reporting to make a profit. It's just not a good idea to have people in the class that has the money telling you what's going on and giving analysis on what you should think. I try to stay with independent news for the most part but I still check out what corporate news reports just to keep up with the BS.

Oh and O'Reilly is a complete douchebag. Regardless of whether you agree with him or his political ideals he is. He won't ever let a guess finish saying something if it's not in line with what he thinks. I can't even listen to the guy argue a point I agree with. A good host would bring on guests and let them talk. Not to mention the guy leading up to the war came out and was just like I'll get behind my president no matter what and then he even went as far as to say we should just give everyone in baghdad a warning to get out and then level the entire city. Anyone that would destroy an entire city with so much history behind is a douchebag. I mean he wanted to wipe out the cradle of civilization. Kill all the history art and artifacts with it. I could go on but I've made my point that he's a complete douchebag.
dan p. Posted - 07/29/2004 : 4:27:14 PM
bill o'reilly is a douchebag who will boycott a product because of who endorses it and then turn right around and wail about people being saying bad things about his book because they don't like him. there's no fucking way on earth he can say that and not realize what a sack of shit he is. once someone does something like that, i have no need to hear or read anything he has to say, because i know he's an idiot. it's like how in the mall, some guy was saying something about george bush, and smirked and shook my head. i did that because the guy was wearing an icp shirt, and as far as i can tell icp fans probably need ask their parents how to tie their shoes every morning.

Hahahaha. That made my day a little brighter. For the record, I agree that these political commentaries are getting out of hand. It's one thing to present the facts regarding any situation, but that would require only one movie/tv special. I'm sick of people trying to manipulate those with weaker minds. Being on the slightly conservative side, I tend to agree with O'Reilly regarding a lot of things. To me it's refreshing to have someone with a conservative opinion actually have a regular TV spot. In general, the media is so liberal and biased that I can't bear to watch something as simple as the local news without being offended that they're serving political interests with higher reverence than what actually happened. Granted, the same thing would probably be true were the entire media conservative. Ah well, I hate TV anyway, lol.

Guitar in hand now that makes sense. I tend to only watch TV when I have my guitar in hand or when I'm eating.
dan p. Posted - 07/28/2004 : 4:08:51 PM
right you are.

of course, i do none of those things without a guitar in my hands. or at least nearby, if i'm reading.

im sorry but the simpsons are never a waste of time...
Zachmozach Posted - 07/28/2004 : 12:49:10 PM
Sorry dan no offense intended. That's just a hell of a lot of TV. It would drive me insane to watch that much TV and I have no idea how you do it but I don't give a rats ass what you do in your time. I just don't know how you watch all that TV and read all those damn books that you're always talking about. For me TV is a waste of time but for you it may not be. That's cool I wasn't trying to bag on how you spend your time.
dan p. Posted - 07/28/2004 : 12:25:40 PM
you didn't offend me. yeah, i'm mildly disgusted by yet another political documentary, but that's it. if you want to watch it, go on ahead. it matters little to me.

what pissed me off was when someone (i forget who and i don't feel like scrolling down to check it out and the scrolling all the way back up) decided they wanted to critique how i spend my time, as if however he spends his is any better.
rubylith Posted - 07/28/2004 : 09:07:22 AM
haha yea hes a monster, not a journalist...

anyway dan p. sorry you are so offended by someone else's suggestion. I already knew plenty about this, but what this dvd does is that it puts it in perspective to someone know never even considered that by watching tv they were being brainwashed. It breaks down the techniques involved and its very interesting to see. I myself used to watch the shit and fell right in, thats why it interests me, not because it is some fad to make a documentary. I encourage people to watch this because it is important, and probably some people here might be would be interested in it as well.

sweet jesus. what's this? another political "documentary." how riviting and thought provoking. and "riviting and thought provoking" i mean "trite and uninteresting." this whole documentary thing is a trend, a passing fad, and nothing more. everytime someone pinches one of these things out, you buy right into it. don't waste my fucking time.

i don't like fox news. so i discovered a really effective way to deal with it. i don't watch it.

and what does it matter if i do watch those shows and then the first two adult swim shows? i work enough to make money, practice enough to stay good. waste your time how you want and i'll waste mine how i want, but sit there and pretend like how you pass your time is any better.

You're describing a syndicated lineup which has almost nothing to do with Fox or Fox News. However, that line-up does rock.

and CLEAR CHANNEL http://clearchannelsucks.org/
rubylith Posted - 07/27/2004 : 1:13:34 PM
fox news uses sophisticated ways to tell a story so that you believe it...also called lieing...

but as the saying goes you tell a lie long enough it becomes the truth...or perceived truth...

anyway it goes into detail in the movie about how they use the phrase "some people say" and they show like 20 examples of different correspondents saying "some people day..." and then you think, well that must be true!

they also use flashing in their intros to stimulate a part of your brain to keep watching...

anyway i can't explain it, but the movie sure does, I would buy it if I were you if you care about the world, and your friends and family...

it is very sad....what has happened...one person owns over half of everything yous see hear and read...now that is wrong!
guitarted Posted - 07/27/2004 : 12:59:01 PM
Fox is AWFUL. The only time I ever watch fox is on sunday nights. They have a really good line up of shows then.

I can't STAND all the crap they put on there. That reality CRAP drives me up the friggin wall.

I don't understand what you mean by brainwashed though. Please elaborate.
