I love bike wreck stories...They are the most hysterical thing...Not if someone gets really seriously hurt...But just watching someone take a spill or even hearing their stories is the funniest thing...So I hope you guys have some good ones...
So I was riding my friends bike, it must have been when I was 7 or so...He was riding my Huffy (complete with bright red shocks and fenders...) so he told me to use his...Well, we were riding about when we came to this sub-division...The road was just one giant hill, probably a quarter-mile long, and very steep...So I peddled as fast as I possibly could and was flying down this hill...The bike I was on had peddle brakes, so by the time I was near the end of the hill I started peddling backwards...Notice I said PEDDLING backwards...Not "Using the brakes." There were no brakes...Before I knew it, I was hurdling over the curb at the bottom of the hill...I woke up a little dazed, blood oozing out of my left leg and arm, a cut on my face...It really sucked...
Interesting that I've never broken any bones...
Come to think of it, any story of you getting hurt would be appreciated...

Posted - 07/25/2004 : 02:12:06 AM I wreck on a motorcycle once...Really it's the only traffic accident I've ever been in...I was going up a steep hill with my older brother driving...The rear wheel slipped out from underneath as we turned to the left...We slid a good 20 feet or so, over blacktop and gravel, probably doing 25 or 30...My brother, being much larger than me at the time, got some nasty road rash on his left arm, and some on his left leg, but luckily the bike took the brunt of the damage...My left knee was skinned down into some muscle, it was pretty nasty looking...But seeing as how we weren't supposed to be out riding then, I stuck a gauze pad over it for a few days and tried to keep it mum, although I had a hell of a limp for a long time...probably should've gone to the hospital, but what the hell I turned out fine, didn't I? I still got the scars... |

Posted - 07/21/2004 : 4:08:07 PM okay i gots a couple...
first one i can remember is when i was like (7-ish?... well, little) and i was riding down the sidewalk (had just left my house) and these 2 girls that lived on my street were walking towards me. i can't remember exactly what the hell happened, but i think i just didn't want to hit them so i turned down the one girl's driveway (who lived next door). i hit their curb (it's a curved one that let's rain go down drains) but the crack was kinda high, so i hit it and flew over my handlbars, then hitting my head on the curb itself. it hurt, but it didn't really register til i stood up and felt a cool something on my forehead (blood, slowly running down my face... lol)... so yeah, that ended with only like 2 stitches, but it scared the hell outta my mom.
another one which was MUCH worse was a few years after that one, when i had a mountain bike, and i was going down my street. i think the ground was damp because it had rained earlier or the night before or something, so my shoes were slick. one of my feet slipped forward off of the pedal and i lost my balance. i fell on the side and SLID a couple feet, brush-burning my leg. FUCKING OWWWWWW!!!!!! then for some reason my mom thought it would be a good idea to spray SOLARCAIN on the goddamn thing!! not good times, man!!
gotta love injury stories once and a while though. |

Posted - 07/20/2004 : 2:17:26 PM So here is the video of me crashing if any of you need a laugh. It's a little section from You Gotta See This TV show. The last line is a lie though. My brother actually filmed for like 20 more minutes but it wasn't on our camera and when they transfered the film to VHS they decided to cut off the last 20 minutes of me just bleeding. I don't remember any of that time so I wish they wouldn't have done that. Anyway they cut out the spot of me coughing up blood too and I cut out my portion of the interview cause they took the worst part of the interview and used it. It's at imagestation so you have to sign up to view it if you haven't already done so. http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4286622115 Enjoy! EDIT: I'm not sure if that link will work so if it doesn't try this one... http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4286622115&code=10873360&mode=invite&cmp=EMC-IS_other&creative=album-invite |

Posted - 07/15/2004 : 09:57:45 AM mine are nowhere near as serious as you guys. I've never broken any bones :P.Have screwed up my teeth alot though
I was riding with my older cousin who, at the time, was in Highschool and was off of school while the others where in school. I was travelling up and my summer vacation was already here, so we went riding.
We played cops and robbers i think, pretty boring with only two people, but anyways, I got him and tried to run away, I looked back and then ran into a curb. I went flying (thanks inertia) for about 7 feet and remember screwing up my mouth, knocked a few teeth loose.
I think it was the same week, well at least it was the same summer, our Grandparents (my cousins were living with the folks at that time) had a meeting at the church. So we brought our bike and went over there. They had a ramp there, was pretty tall, maybe 5-6 feet, and very short, like it went up hella fast, maybe 4 feet across.
We were going to jump off this, but my oldest cousin said no, a leg is missing. But I didn't hear him...
So we know what happened there. I lost a tooth in resulting the crash |

Posted - 07/15/2004 : 08:54:01 AM I can only think of two memorable bike events. I lived at the end of a cul-de-sac and I had an old school red bmx type bike with rubber handle bar grips. First time I was racing around the cul-de-sac with my friend, my front tire locked into place with his rear tire, and the bikes almost instantly stopped. I didn't let go of the handle bars so I literally flipped forward, slammed my back on my front tire and his bike seat and then slid across about 15 feet of pavement...with my hands still firmly clenched. I still have "scrape scars" from that incident.
Second time I was riding the same bike down my street...and I had proceeded to rip the metal grip off my left handle bar. Some kid came flying out of his driveway and I did everything in my power to get out of the way. My handlebars ended up turning 90 degrees to the left and my bike locked up. I slid forward, and the handle bar literally went directly into my chest about 1/4". I had to carry the bike home, still attached to my chest to figure out what the hell to do. Eventually my parents just pulled it out and the blood fest began. I still have a white circular scar in the middle of my chest...it's very odd looking. |

Posted - 07/14/2004 : 4:16:53 PM Well I have a wealth of stories like this. I'll start with the one that got me on Real TV and You gotta see this and Max X. Let me say first of all that those shows pay you and I've made about a grand off of them.
So anyway there is this big jump down at this local park back up in the woods. It was 5 feet tall and 15 from lip to landing and it was a double with a giant pit in the middle. So my friend tried it one day after I had already hurt myself on some other jumps so I didn't do it. Then we came back and my little brother did it. So I couldn't be a pussy and have my little bro jumping something and me not. So with the cameras rolling I decided to jump it. So I came down the hill in front of the jump to gain speed and all my friends told me was just to take a few peddles. So I guess I didn't peddle enough. I went up and realized that I wasn't making it and I guess I froze up (it's all pretty hazy but that's what it looks like in the video). So I straight into the landing with my front tire which cantapults my face straight into the hard packed dirt with me putting a death grip on the handle bars. So I dug about a 4 or 5 foot long by 4 inch deep trench down the landing of hard packed dirt. I'll have to figure out a way so you guys can see the tape but my face serious just slams into the ground. Anyway so my friend comes up and rolls me over since I'm unconcious and my eyes are like rolling back in my head. I look dead.
ThenI start coughing up blood since I tore my esophogus. I was just spewing up blood all unconcious. So the next thing I know my dad is there which is seriously like 45 minutes later. I was out for a few minutes. I had to wear a neck brace around for a month but I refused to go to the doctor so I just went to the chiropracter (how the hell do you spell that anyway?) and got my neck x rayed and cracked back into place. It was sweet. My best job skill so far is knocking myself unconcious and bleeding. I'll see if I can figure out a way for you guys to see the tape and I'll put up a pic of afterwards. Anyway that is one of many. I've broke 9 bones all together. 3 on a bike, 4 on a motorcycle, 1 skiing and 1 falling out of a tree. I have many more stories of bike crashes and stupid injuries. |

Posted - 07/14/2004 : 4:00:20 PM when i was in 3rd grade i was riding my older cousins bike(which was too big for me) and me and my younger cousin went to ride on this dirt road next to their house and i hit a soft patch of dirt. I fell off the bike, then the bike seat fell right on my ankle and wrenched it. i broke my leg in 2 places. |

Posted - 07/14/2004 : 02:07:17 AM I remember me, my bro, and two of our friends would have these bike races from the top of our road down to the bottom, which was just a turn around (the road was maybe a mile long). Going up was the hard part because it's mainly up hill but going down we'd be flying. I don't think there were many memorable wrecks but one of our friends would crash on purpose (maybe because he was losing or he just wanted attention) and make a big deal about it, but we all knew he was full of shit.
I do remember this one time though. I was going down this really steep hill on a scooter when my asshole friend decides to get too close to me while I'm going down the road and I ride too far to the left and into the dirt. Well scooters aren't really meant for rough turrain so I pretty much went tumbling. When I got up I noticed there was a shit load of blood flowing down my leg... |
