me and my Dad went to the dumb the other day and found this wierd looking instrument. It's not a sitar but I thought it was.

Its 6 strings, kind of a tissue box body and the strings are REALLY high from the neck, maybe about inch.5 So i was wondering if anyone knew what the isntrument is

I know I saw above... I meant theft. Pure and simple. Steal one... preferrably from someone you know because they really won't see it coming. :)

I love Lark in the Morning. Such a great store! That reminds me, I have more online browsing to do!

not a lap steel guitar

you can use your fingers to play, just not chords, So im kinda assuming you use a slide

Is it a lap steel guitar?

Do you use a slide the play?

you can tell it was way out of tuning. I'm just thinking of tuning it like standard tuning guitar and kinda jam on it/get used to it.

The previous owner just bought guitar strings and cut if off becuase the neck is real short, but it has 30 frets.

I'm going ot try to play it like a sitar as well
Arthen Posted - 06/13/2004 : 04:02:54 AM
What's its tuning?
Macht Posted - 06/12/2004 : 7:41:38 PM
yeah its fretted, me and my Dad looked at it a bit more. The pickup is defianetly not American :P. Uhh the fret designs are really cool, it has shapes. Like the thrid fret has three circles, then the 5th fret has triangles, then the 7th has sqaures....
Anyways, we are going to put a pick-up in it so we can plug into the amp and I'm going to try it out

you went to the dumb? All Right...If the strings are that high, the instrument is probably ment to be played with some type of slide...Is it fretted? I've seen Chinese instruments that look a lot like what you are describing here...maybe? I'm just talking out of my ass, but good find, anyway! It will make an interesting wall decoration...
