Hey guys, long time no talkie... I got a free hour while my laundry is in the dryer and i have time to chill before a gig tonite. things are going well act college other than i am going insane with so much to do. Currently I am taking 23 credits, am playing gigs/concerts 4-5 days a week, it's the last few weeks of the semester, and i have 3 bass solos to transcribe for my improv class that have barely been started. I dunno how i'm going to do it. So i got back to my dorm, and first i put in the album "angel song" with lee konitz, dave holland, bill frisell, and kenny wheeler, because it's a real nice melodic drumless modern jazz group. Theni thought, "hey i haven't listened to tim reynolds in quite a long time(months at least). So pop in nomadic wavelength and chill.

Anyway, gig wise here's what i've been doing. I've found that even tho i'm super busy, i'm also i really nice guy who can't say no, so anytime people around jmu ask me to play a concert/performance with them i always agree. So let's take next week for example.... Tuesday i'm playing at chaser's with my school jazz combo for a grade, wednesday i'm playing in a drum/bass/sax trio with the professor of saxophone at jmu, named dave pope. if you want to check out what he sounds like go here... http://homepage.mac.com/popesax/mp3.html I suggest it, this guy is really good! anyway continuing...thursday nite i have a weekly gig with my jazz combo playing a coffee house called the artful dodger, and friday nite i sometimes sit in with a group at chaser's again. oh yeah, and this monday i'm playing for a marimba recital, and this tuesday is also my jazz big band concert.

typical week for me...and this is on top of 11 classes or so... I'm tired...

yeah, well imagine this then...last semester i took 22, next semester i'll have 24... I think it's roughly like 11 classes are so...

check out those mp3s of my sax professor, he's really good! He uses multiphonics some, which are playing several notes through overtones and harmonics at once. listen to it!

I don't even want to imagine 23 hours... It'll make the summer that much sweeter!

23 CREDITS!!! Dear lord! Well summer is here and then maybe you can settle down a little before you burn out. Can't be too bad though for you playing all the time.

Wow Matt, so glad to hear what you have been up to. Sure explains your lack of posting here! Good luck with all your gigs. Try not to get overwhelmed. Sometimes saying no is what you have to do, but I can see why its hard for you. After all, music is in your blood!
