http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/03/02/mcdonalds.supersize.ap/index.html

I for one think this is ridiculous. They state that they are trying to simplify their menu, but we all know that they are just facing pressure from all of the MORONS that get fat off eating McDonalds and then sue the restraunt instead of taking the blame themself.

real meat, fake meat. as long as animals died to make my dinner. taco bell tastes good, and that's what counts. there's no chipolte in my area, anyway.

Even thought it is owned by McDonalds, I would have to say my favorite fast food is Chipotle.

They actually have real meat in their burritos/tacos, and they make it in front of you. personally, much better, and its kinda fast food.

wendy's.

that kills me. "they sell fattening food, and since i'm a sloppy fuck and i can't even handle myself, i ate a whole shitload of their food, and then rather than admit i'm a slob i'm going to sue. if i really cared about the weight i gained, i'd get off my fat ass and try to lose it, but instead, i should be stood against the wall." if i were a judge, i wouldn't even allow this shit to even come up.

Mine is Taco Bell all the way.

I read Fast Food Nation, it was okay, the author went off on tangents way too often though. But reading it didn't make me not want to eat there or at other fast food places. I don't eat there cause I don't care for the food.

Okay, What's your favorite fast food restaurant?

Mine's Jack in the Box.

I know what you're saying Kevin, because I was thinking along the same lines (I didn't know how this was going to better profits) but I just have a hard time believing that they did this because they don't want to make people fat. So maybe you're right that they just don't want to get sued. The only way I can see them making money on this is that now you pay to upgrade to a large or whatever instead of supersize. I never eat there though so I have no idea.

Zach, I'm not sure I agree... I think it might even be in fast food nation (either that or Mcdonaldization of Society) where they say it costs about 1 cent for every 2 ounces of soda they provide. So that would mean a 30oz coke costs them about 15 cents and they charge around a 1.30 or so. To supersize costs around 35 cents last I checked, and adds around 10-15 oz to the soda. so they are charging an extra 35 cents for something that costs them 5-7 cents to do. Sounds quite profitable to me considering how many people supersize.

Who eats that crap anyway? If you do eat that stuff you should read fast food nation. Then you probably won't eat there anymore.

I didn't know that they were getting pressure from fat people except for a lawsuit or two. Personally I don't think it has anything to with that because Mcdonalds could care less if people get fat. Also they realize that people can just order more like dan said. So I think that this is probably directly related to them making more money. Let's be realistic here they are a corporation and they probably figured that they would do better cutting out supersizes for profit reasons not because they are worried about making people fat.

I saw that too. Funny. I wish it would've happened while I worked there. Would've been one less size of fries to deal with.
JTR Posted - 03/03/2004 : 2:44:17 PM
Why does a "restaurant" that you can already order at by simply asking for a number need to become more simplistic? Come on McD's.

I really don't think that removing super-sizes will make America thinner. Come on. Just because people can't get the giant size only means that they will buy 2 larges to compensate for that. People are gonna eat the same amoutn of fries than they did before, they'll just buy two, especially if they're hungry enough.

Yes, America is unhealthy, but decreasing the amount in a package of fries is not gonna help at all. They should focus on the fat, grease, sodium, cholesterol, etc in 1 fry. That would add up to make them healthier rather than sell large instead of super-size. Pretty stupid if you ask me.
