So I saw the new Tim Burton movie tonight, and I highly reccomend it. I was thuroughly entertained from begining to end, and it was easily one of the better movies I have seen this year.

I finally got to see Big Fish last Tuesday at the Original Language movie theater here in Stuttgart.

A friend from the States was visiting and I dragged her along. She thought it was odd that she came all the way to Germany to see a movie that originally came out in the U.S. anyway. She did enjoy the German movie experience, though. Beer and wine available at the concession stand, cigarette ads before the movie, and an ad for Monster dubbed in German. (I hope they actually show the darn thing in English.)

Anyway, I really enjoyed it! Thanks for recommending it Kevin.

Big Fish is out on DVD today. If you didn't catch this one in the theatres, it is definatley worth a trip to Ballbusters to rent. I'll be buying it... I liked it that much!

I definately agree with what you guys are saying about expectations. I think one of the reasons I enjoyed it soo much was because I had not seen a single preview or really heard anything about it. All I knew going in was that Tim Burton had his name on it. So basically I went on a date where the girl really wanted to see that, and I was down for whatever, and I came out extremely surprised and entertained. I think it will definately be a DVD buy for me in a few months.

Saw this movie last night and absolutely loved it. I went in expecting to fall asleep, but left feeling recharged. I think this is for sure the type of flick that will vary with your expectation.

Another case of "I was expecting something different"

Good movie, but I'll have to see it again with a more open-mind

I would also highly recommend Big Fish. It's just like Kevin said... it's entertaining and well done, start to finish.

I realized today that movies here have one HUGE advantage over those in the states. They sell beer and wine. I had a crappy day, so I am planning to buy a steaming mug of hot, mulled wine to drink while I watch Calendar Girls. Rah!

I also saw The Last Samurai here on base Sunday. (Alas, no beer is sold there.) I hadn't really wanted to go but my friend Jenny was going to go alone, which made me feel bad. (Also, I like to see all Best Picture nominees and this one may just get a nod.) Anyway, I liked it more than I expected to. So that was cool.

Dont worry Tericee, I live here in Colorado and barely have time to go see movies. The last one I got to go see was the new Warren Miller fick. and the only reason I saw that is because it was the premier and I am a HUGE fan. For all who dont know Warren Miller, he is a Ski Film Pioneer/God. we'll anywho all I am sayin is that I AM MISSIN ALL THE GOOD MOVIES!! I really want to go see Return of the King...Don't think its gonna happen.

AAGHH! So many movies don't come out in Germany on the same day they do in the States.
On base I was able to see Cat in the Hat (almost a waste of film I think) but they don't get some of the more obscure stuff so I have to wait for them to come to our German theater or on DVD and available from NetFlix.

whine whine whine

I guess I shouldn't complain since I was able to see Matrix: Revolutions the day it came out and LOTR/ROTK the week it came out -- both in Germany and Spain!
