Seems CA has a new govenor!! CONGRATS

Truly bizarre turn of events. Davis seems to be the first govenor of CA to be pried from office and only the second ever nationwide. He won a campaign that included 135 candidates, including Larry Flynt, Gary Coleman, a publicity-hungry porn actress who wanted to tax breast implants and an artist who dressed in all blue and described his candidacy as the ultimate piece of performance art. Truly BIZARRE!

By the way, did anyone catch Jay Leno looking at his watch during Arnold's speech when the camera cut to him in the crowd. I noticed it live and pointed out to my roommates that that clip would be all over the news tomorrow, and sure enough, we watched Letterman, and he used the clip tons of times. I don't blame him either, it was hilarious. Jay was clapping, and sneaked a peak at his watch while clapping. LOL

This is what I had to say about the subject from an earlier thread:

heck yeah, I no longer live in California, LONG LIVE CAWL-LEE-FORNYA.

For those who don't know what I am talking about, that is how my new governor pronounces the state's name. I'm happy that he won though, I voted for the guy. I truly feel that a non-career politician will help matters more so than a career politician who would be more worried about his allies and not burning bridges.

As for Ventura, I closely followed his campaign and I own and have read both of his books, and I think he did a great job, and unlike a career politician, he did exactly what he said he would, and that was to return to the private sector after his term, which he urges other politicians to do, but instead, they choose to stay in office as along as they can, and in order to do that, you can't necessarily do what is right for the people, but rather what is right for their jobs.

Well but politics are not the same as business practices. To run a business you do not need to know what you are doing. Having a sharp team around you is far more important. But when you are making the kinds of decisions that will drastically impact the lives of other people, I think that you should have something to offer other than a tan, a smile and a bunch of rich white folks backing you up.

You know what else is bizzare in politics? Why did the FBI bug the mayor of Philadelphia's office???? hummmmmm?????

Well...kinda. Granted, I would take Ventura over the Bush lackey Pawlenty that's in office right now anyday, but Ventura basically stripped the fine arts of all funding.

I think, and I admit, by nature I like to hope for the best in people, he honestly wants to do good for the people in California. I don't think there is any hidden agenda. He has already had a very successful career and life. He didn't need to run for governor for self imagae. He ran to help people.

Hey California isn't alone with its governor problems. We got "rid" of our governor in PA too, good for us, bad for the country, he is now head of Homeland Security (talk about an oxymoron!)LOL

At least he had the money to actually spend. Not like he was in debt millions of dollars and then when and spent more.
Fleabass76 Posted - 10/08/2003 : 2:16:33 PM
Maybe he'll put all the money he throws away on hummers, peticures, and haircuts towards fixing cali's economy. That would probably push the books up into the black quite a ways. I hope he has a good staff because I don't see how someone like him could know anything about cutting down on spending.

I hope he does well. It must be hard to be Mr. Schwarzenegger-Kennedy-Shriver in the world of politics. Seriously, I do hope he can bring some new ideas and action to Caleeephoneeah. Besides the Lt Governor, Bustamante, Arnold really seemed to be the most qualified and able of all the circus freaks running in the race. Damn I gotta Love Mitt Romney... especially now.
Arthen Posted - 10/08/2003 : 12:01:03 PM
I didn't get to vote (absentee ballot problems!). I don't know how I feel about Arnold being govenor quite yet. I hope he does well, cause he's my govenor. I guess we'll watch and see. At least he's got people around him who know what they're doing.
PJK Posted - 10/08/2003 : 09:45:50 AM
yep, truly bizzare! I do think Arnold may just have what it takes to make some changes (hopefully for the good) in California.
