That was a surprise, I pre-ordered the cd off musictoday.com and chose the cheapest meathod of shipping which said it probably wouldnt arrive until like a week after it was released, but I got it monday morning, the day before it was even released!!! I must admit that the first thing I did was listen to the Dave+ Tim bonus disc, which is Awesome, and worth every dollar of the pre-order. I'm about halfway through the actual cd right now, and so far it is mediocre, but the studio version of Stay or Leave is awesome, best on the cd so far for me. Lots of cool photos of TR is the booklet and the sleeve for the bonus disc which is a plus, and TR's name appears on the labeling of the cd so also cool for TR.

I have been listening to it a lot lately too, and I agree with you Kevin. It is a pretty amazing CD. I particularly like the "blues" sound of the one track. Sort of a mix between African music and the Soggy Mountain Boys. It's Grey Blue Eyes.

Ofcourse Grave Digger I still love. The video was just so damn powerful!

Kevin, you are going to LOVE the concert! I wish I could have gone to more than one, but I was lucky to see one. I would have loved to have seen TIM play with his teeth on Fire. All those Dave fans who thought these concerts were going to be a bust were wrong!

I am listening to the CD again now and I just love it! Like all music, the more you hear it, the more or less you like it. For me Some Devil is proving to be a favorite.

So, I'm listening to Some Devil right now, as I type this... and it is just now dawning on me.. like seriously a light bulb just lit up. SOME DEVIL IS AN AMAZING CD. Yeah, I just now decided that. I never thought too much of it before, but all of a sudden I just realized how great it is.

Yeah, I pre-ordered mine from BestBuy.com, and I still don;t have it yet. It kinda sucks when apparently everyone else has the friggin album. Stupid Best Buy! Those bastards!

My copy arrived on Tuesday as scheduled. I was surprised. I think it is a very "blue" album. Darker than Dave usually is (if thats even possible) but I like most of the album. You can SO hear TIM and Trey. Some Devil is OK. I am having a hard TIMe with "Trouble". It reminds me of an 80's pop band kind of Depeche Mode like. I don't think Dave has that type of melody really. He has power and range but the sweet, soft melody thing.... I don't know. I have listened to the album a few times now and it is growing on me but that song still seems out of place. The bonus CD is excellent though. I knew it would be.

i love this album. i'm just still kinda reeling from the fact that Tim is recording with Dave again. the greatest parts of DMB history both live and in the studio include Tim in my opinion. i love what Tim has been doing, but am thankful for the breath of fresh air he gives one of my favorite bands as well.

so far i just live gravedigger and little thing,a whole lot, but i need to hear some more... Also, those were some of the whole songs i was familiar with as well, so...
JTR Posted - 09/25/2003 : 12:51:32 AM
Loving the title track... Reminds me of some kind of old blues song. Very has a southern feeling, if that's possible. Another thing, is it me or did An' Another Thing frow out of Little Thing, minus the story and plus more random gibberish? I haven't listened to Live at Luther forever so a kind of forgot how it sounds, but I'm almost sure it's the same song.
victorwootenfan Posted - 09/24/2003 : 9:24:27 PM
ok finally listening to it now...so far i like it, def. some TR-ness here and there, haven't heard too much trey yet, maybe he's there playing and i don't realize it, but i usually can here him pretty easily. haven't listened to anything but the first 5 tunes yet, but i will.

so far i really like it, but it sounds nothing like any other dave album i've heard.
victorwootenfan Posted - 09/24/2003 : 7:09:02 PM
my suitemate who bought the cd said he messed around with it yesterday and burned it for me, whenever i return back to my dorm i'm going to go pick up the cd and give it a listen, i can't wait!
JTR Posted - 09/24/2003 : 4:21:16 PM
If you want to copy the CD, try ripping the songs off the CD into WAVs and then burning them onto a CD. Some CDs can block direct copying, but it seems that most can still be ripped...
As for the album, since TRs on it ya gotta buy it, but I've given it a short listen and it seems okay so far.
victorwootenfan Posted - 09/24/2003 : 12:09:24 AM
again i say...my suite mate here at college got a warehouse copy of it, with the T and D cd, and all...and the disks are not burnable!! it sucks, i really wanted the live show too...i guess i'll go buy the new dave cd soon, and not get the new disk...i want it!

Forgot to say that I really like Tim's stuff with the volume and delay pedals on that one song (I think it's 'Trouble')
Arthen Posted - 09/23/2003 : 8:16:27 PM
Most definitely! The pictures of him are awesome! Oh, and Trey's close up picture made me smile! He looks so goofy and happy. I like how the booklet was set up, it reminded me of Bela's "Acoustic Planet" albums.
bugman96 Posted - 09/23/2003 : 6:54:07 PM
Anyone else notice that TR was using a Fender Telecaster in the liner notes?
Arthen Posted - 09/23/2003 : 4:05:57 PM
I agree with you on that Pam, and I wasn't expecting this to be along the lines of Before These Crowded Streets, but I have a hard time getting into the songs. Over time I'll get more into it, like I did with Everyday.
PJK Posted - 09/23/2003 : 3:42:35 PM
Got mine in the mail today. Love the bonus cd!!!! I guess I am in the minority, I actually like Some Devil. It's mellow, relaxing. I don't know, I just like it, it isn't amazing but its nice. Not everything that comes out has to move mountains to be appreciated.
Arthen Posted - 09/23/2003 : 3:03:51 PM
I just picked up a copy.

The Dave and Trey track is definitely one of the tracks that I enjoyed., but for the most part I think it's very, very mediocre. I really like both versions of Gravedigger and the version of Stay or Leave, but after that I can't much listen to the songs.

Either way it was worth it for the 5 track D&T CD. Man, the mastered versions of the D&T songs sound so amazing. Both guitars sound so crisp and crystal clear. I can't wait for the Live Album to come out.

I picked up my copy this morning at 6:30 am at my local Wal-Mart. I was there when they took them out of the box, so I guess I looked kind of over-eager? :) The Dave/Tim disc is great. I wasn't expecting a 2-CD set but I guess it's a limited edition? And on top of that, it was only $9.84. Hooray for Wal-Mart.

Tim is fabulous on the album, I am listening to it at work as we speak. I am happy for whatever positive vibes he gets from being a part of this project. He deserves it!

Then I went to the brand new Krispy Kreme that just opened up across the street from my apartment complex this morning. They had cops directing traffic because there were so many people lined up. We don't get much excitement in Kansas. :)

It's a big day for me! :)

I'm looking forward to picking up my copy after school today, yes.

How's the actual title track?

In my opinion, it is one of the more boring tracks, and is very skipable, but that is only after one listen, and that opinion may very well change. That song in particular has no TR, no guests at all for that matter... just Dave.
