I know it has been awhile since I posted on the boards. I have read some of the threads from time to time and that always made me feel good.

Things have been rough for me. I don't want this to be a downer thread but I know some of you are wondering whats up with me and are afraid to ask.

I spent 3 days in the hospital the last week in July getting IV antibiotics because I had an infection from the surgery.

I got the bad news that I not only will need chemotherapy, but that I have to have more surgery. Seems they didn't get enough out the last time. They are also putting in a port which is a catheter which will go into my chest and into a large vein. This is where all the chemotherapy drugs will go into. I have shitty veins so this is really a blessing although it doesn't sound like it. The surgery is set for Aug 20th.

I purchased my first "head covering," a special scarf, on line a short while ago. It is time to start preparing for being bald. Damn that chemotherapy! Other than doing this and possibly picking out a wig, I just haven't been able to think about losing my hair. The thought totally freaks me out.

I miss everyone here, but mostly I miss my old life. I saw that Bela Fleck tickets have gone on sale for the Kimmel Center in Phila. I love that place and have enjoyed so many musical experiences there. I got on line, ordered a ticket and just when I went to push the submit button, I realized, "shit, I don't even know if I will be well enough to go then!" It is Oct 12th. I don't know my chemo. schedule yet and I will have to be really careful what I do and where I go because my blood counts will be so low.

It is for that reason that I will not be able to return to work in the fall which sucks for me big time! I love the kids so much, but they do cough and sneeze on me constantly! (A hazzard of working with kids)

Well thats all I can say for now. Cancer is hell and I pray none of you have to go through this in your lifetime.

Fluffy, if you read this, you've got mail.

Peace everyone.

Lots of love and prayers and good karma to you Pam!

Good luck with everything and I know you are strong enough to make it through all of it!

Pam, I really hope that you get to see Radiohead, and Tim Reynolds and MORE concerts after that. And for head coverings, I'm not sure if you saw these in Silky's post or not, but you should get this in lieu of hair:
