Just to keep everyone up to date, I came home from the hospital this afternoon. The surgery was more than I expected. They removed all the lymph nodes from under my arm as well as the cancer from my breast. I have a drain in which will come out next Tuesday. Until then a visiting nurse will come to my house each day to change the dressings.

I was in a great deal of pain last night but they gave me morphine so I don't remember a lot of it. I feel much better being home. I think the worst is over.

Thanks for all the well wishes, I am sure they made a difference. I know they made me feel better.

Here's to hoping that dream does indeed come true!!!

oh and for this...

All I can think of is this poor guy is either eating it all up and loving it or he's kicking himself in the ass for ever applying for the job and walking in the door.

Let me settle that for you right now from a male perspective... he is loving it.

i had a dream last night actually that i went to see pam in the hospital, and i saw the doctors put in the radioactive material, and the doctor said it was killing off what it was ment to do, and then he had to pull out a few things here and there, like a limph node i think is what he pulled out. but the stuff he was working on wasnt even attached to her, it was on a seperate table and was see through except for the radioactive die which was green. Anyway, in the dream she got better and all everything that needed destroying was destroyed, so lets hope that my dream comes true.

Well, glad to hear it went well pam!!

I'd say i know how you feel on the bra liberation thing but...I HAVE NO IDEA!

I guess maybe like going around with no underwear...ah well, back to "work."
PJK Posted - 07/22/2003 : 2:44:08 PM
HAHAHA yep went ok. However, there was more fluid coming out than for most women so they said what will pobably happen is that it will collect in my arm pit and I am supposed to call Thurs or Friday morning to go back to the surgeon's office and have them take out the fluid with a needle. Oh great!

I told the doctor I thought she had removed part of my breast, instead, now have one Dolly Parton boob! hehe, actually not so funny because it's that way due to swelling. At least I am not in pain now, just a bit uncomfortable. I am just loving going braless!

Hope everything goes well with the removal!

Doctor: "Wasn't I wearing a watch earlier?"

That is too funny Evergreen! Now keep us posted on events at work. I can just picture what is happening and it must be really funny! Makes me wonder what he is thinking!

I go to the doctor's in about 15 mins. I am getting this stupid drain out thank god! I lost the plug to the container that it drains into this morning. The container looks like a grenade and the plug is important becuase there has to be a vacuum in the container in order for it to work properly. Leave it to me to lose that! It just sort of popped off, I am not sure where or when, but it was there this morning. Oh well, what can I do?

Hey Pam, I hope you and your BREAST are better each day!!! I'm definitely thinking of you often and sending get well hopes and wishes.

yes and some of those male nurses can be quite a distraction. You might hurt your breast moving too fast to see him bend over the end of the bed to reach your blanket. Be careful! There will be plenty of TIMe to utilize him to the fullest later. No quick sudden movements.

and on a funny side note, because Teri mentioned hot male nurses. I work in an office with ALL women. From the director on down to the secretaries are all women.(sometimes thats good, sometimes bad). Anyway, we just hired a male nurse who started monday and as another side note....he's single, in his 30's, really hot and all man (if ya know what I mean). And you outta see the sudden change in dynamics goin on around here. It is too funny. Most of these women are married, in a long term relationships, or recently divorced. But I think many are unfulfilled or unhappy, in talking to these women over the past few years. Well, Voices have become high pitched, giggling happening left and right. Perfume permeates the air frequently now. Little struggles about who will show him things around the office. It's like a comedy skit on Mad TV or something.

All I can think of is this poor guy is either eating it all up and loving it or he's kicking himself in the ass for ever applying for the job and walking in the door. At any rate, its funny and interesting to watch.

Sending the love and prayers your way. It's good to hear that progress is being made, i'll be thinking about you. sorry to hear about the pain..i hope it subsides, and you can get back to feeling better soon!!
PJK Posted - 07/19/2003 : 09:23:33 AM
Thanks to all of you. Your wishes really mean a great deal to me. Today is not a good one. I am in so much pain, most I have had since Thurs. I can hardly concentrate on writing this.

I did finally get some sleep. I don't normally sleep on my back and so it has been hard to get comfortable. Unfortunately I have no choice but to sleep on my back. I even tried the other side but the pain was too much. Wouldn't you know the night I finally get to sleep I end up having nightmares! Jeez, whats up with that?

I am going to take some pain meds. I will try to update later today.

Word for today is OUCH!

Dammit, Jason. Are you watching porn again? Does this mean you back on the wagon?.....or is it off the wagon.......

Glad everything's alright, Pam. And I'll be back in school on the 25th of August, in case you were wondering.

Hey PJK, sorry to hear it didn't go as smoothly as hoped, but I am glad you are OK and glad they did what they had to do to get you back up and running(of course, AFTER the morphine wears off). Good thought, good vibes and lots of well wishing headed your way for a speedy, problem-free recovery. Now might be a great TIMe to finish Ishmael or if you already finished it, to reread it. HEHE Keep hitting us with the updates, it's great to have you back around.
Arthen Posted - 07/18/2003 : 02:45:17 AM
I'm glad to hear you are back in the comfort of your own home! Huzzah for the surgery going well, and more good karma for the rest of it all!
tericee Posted - 07/17/2003 : 10:28:59 PM
Pam could get a hot male nurse; you never know! Then she'd still be pretty darn lucky...

I hope the pain is manageable until Tuesday, Pam. We'll keep sending good thoughts. If I had your address I could also send good cookies...

teri :)

Pammy, two things.

If you were male and the nurse was hot, I'd say you were one of the luckiest people I know with the whole "visiting nurse" thing.

Secondly, what's the deal with morphine. When I was growing up it seemed pretty popular. Does no one do that drug for pleasure any more?
