Anyone else got a great summer job? I'm working at a bus garage washing buses. It's great, I only do about 1-2 hours of work in a 9 hour day. Most of the time I'm just surfing the internet and posting on boards, and talking on msn and aol(just figured out how to download it through a blocked system). anyway, summer jobs?

I don't know if it's true or not but I've heard rumors that they're gonna increase the state tax from 8.25% to 10%. Damn that would suck if it was true.

Hey, right now I'm a self-employed musician. Socialism sounds jim dandy to me. Health care for everyone? Why that's crazy talk. Aknowledging the fact that most people aren't adaquately compensated for their work in comparison to the big CEO's? BALDERDASH!!

Whoa, that's enough ranting.

Yeah the whole smoking thing is one of the benefits.

Been there, done that. Bought a condo. Still have it being rented out by a management company. I hope to never live in it again, however.

I'll take Communist (okay, maybe Arthen's right and it's actually Socialist, but mine is alliterative) California over BORING Ohio any day. At least smoking is practially illegal here -- I do like that.

Here are a few reasons why I think CA sucks:

-The current government would've been ran better by a team of monkeys.
-Pollution.
-Too many people.
-The musical scene is horrendous, in my opinion at least.
-Extremely dirty.
-It's damn close to Socialism. Gray Davis (our boneheaded govenor) raised spending, and now the budget is screwed. Our defecit is higher than all the other states COMBINED.

All in all, it's just not my state. I'm in the middle of the state, right outside of Sac, maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe partially it's the whole "I live here so I hate it" thing. If it's your kind of state, more power to you.

Hey Pam,

Local jobs rock. It's not at any of the Rutgers Campuses, though. It's little place in the middle of nowhere south Jersey. And yeah, I think that ticket is lost forever. As for the Flecktones at the Kimmel Center, I'm interested in going, but I'm going to have to wait to see what my finances are like after this summer and the purchase of school books.

I'll agree with Arthen on the California thing. I'm not sure of his reasons, but I think this state is the closest thing to Communist we've got going in the U.S. If you like Communism, cool for you, but I'm a Capitalist through and through. (nice little rhyme there )

As much as the state sucks, I guess they thought it a good idea to pay a high minimum wage.

CA sucks? WTF? Sorry man, but that's ridiculous.

Ok, I'll assume that the part you're in really does suck, and I'll let that slide. But in all honesty, your state has more options than most other states.

Ah Jesse, so the bugman has a "local" summer job! Wooohoo! I guess that ticket is still in mail limbo, eh?????? Did you know Bela and Co. are going to be at the Kimmel Center in Oct????? I am definitely going! If you are interested let me know. I won't be buying tickets for a while, don't think they are even on sale yet, but when they do I will buy 2 if you are interested. We could ride down together, I go down to the Kimmel a lot so it wouldn't be a problem. Otherwise I am going alone, which isn't a problem either, because I go to the kimmel alone a lot too.

I don't have a summer job, but I've got a school year job! I'm a resident advisor or dorm monitor. The school pays for my parking permit, phone line, room and board, and half the year's tuition. All I have to do is make sure the freshmen aren't drinking in their rooms. Oh, and 10 hours a week extra work at 7.50.

Rutgers University Agricultural Research and Extension Center: Tree Fruit Entomology Department. $8.50/hr, 40 hr weeks. My boss calls me a research assistant but I'm really an assistant lab tech.

That sounds like a lot of fun, my drummer in my band auditioned for something like that at cedar point in ohio. Even tho he's a super talented freak he still didn't make it. I'm sure there's lots of competion there tho. That'd be my dream job!

I joined the Air Force for my summer job!

Ugh, I've been looking, but no place that I "want" to work at will hire only for the summer, and my fall class schedule conflicts with most shift schedules. I NEED MONEY!!!

McDonalds! Woo-hoo! $6.15 an hour, and usually 35-40 hours a week. Hell, it keeps me busy and today pay day, so i'm happy.
