Posted - 06/12/2003 : 1:31:50 PM I drove to San Francisco last night and saw The Samples play. It was awesome and amazing. They are great musicians and they interact a whole lot with their fans. They threw CDs out into the audience alot. Took picutres of the crowd from the stage.
So if they are playing near you and you've got twenty bucks, it would be well worth it to go see them. |

Posted - 06/19/2003 : 8:59:53 PM Ah soo sorry, I kind of missed this one. Arthen, I loved the song but you should Know the version I downloaded was with DMB and it was amazing with the addition of Boyd and Leroi. I am very interested in the Samples now, and will download more and probably get a CD of theirs. |

Posted - 06/16/2003 : 03:02:20 AM That is the one song that got me into the band. If you hear a weird voice talking, don't be frightened. It's just one of the band members. They have a great sense of humour. |

Posted - 06/15/2003 : 10:52:51 PM Ah Thanks Arthen! I am downloading "Feel Us Shaking" as I write this. Will let you know what I think when I hear it! |

Posted - 06/15/2003 : 3:46:50 PM They have a really different sound. They are considered a JamBand, however they normally don't stray into the twenty minute songs, normally around 10 minutes. They do reggae sounds, calypso sounds, lots of acoustic, different things like that. Dave Matthews Band used to open up for them back in 1991.
Download some songs off of Kazaa, either Sean Kelly or The Samples as the artist. Try to get live or acoustic songs.
Some of my favorite songs: Birth of Words Feel Us Shaking The Streets in the Rain Going Through Changes Nature of the Beast |

Posted - 06/15/2003 : 09:27:22 AM Okay, how did I miss this one Arthen????? I am intrigued. What do they sound like? I never heard of them.
Jay that had to be a different English teacher right???? I didn't know if you meant last year as in the fall or last year as in a whole year ago. I just can't believe the one you had this year would be cool enough to introduce you to music, but hey, strange things can happen. |
