Damn what a good show!! at 5:00 I went to see Miroslav, who is one of the top 3 classical bassists in the world, hailing from Czech...ia(not gonna try to spell it). He played lots of famous "bass" peices, and half the songs he was bowing some complex arpeggios stuff while singing czech. folk songs. It was amazing!! the man could play, sing, and had this mischeivious twinkle in his eye the whole time. Very comical yet serious musician!
The next show was mind blowing as well! Edger Meyer, another one of the top 3 classical bassists, playing a show with the multi-talented mandolin/guitarist mike marshall. They opened with the song "uncommon ritual" from the cd with bela fleck. the rest of the show was filled with humor, trading licks off, classical/jazz/blues/bluegrass songs, one after another. If anyone gets the opportunity to see these guys, do it! they are amazing!
Def. a great nite! |

Posted - 06/07/2003 : 12:55:34 PM I saw Edgar Meyer play with the Mississippi Symphony (or whatever they're called) and yep, he's VERY talented. He had a couple (at least) solos, and they were great too. I just downloaded a show with EM and Bela duo, and it's good too.
He can really work that bass. |
