Posted - 02/21/2003 : 3:18:26 PM Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been around much lately, I have alot on my plate at the moment. Between the record store, 9:30 Club(and all the snow and organization it has required to run the club smoothly)I have been working back to back 12-19 hour days. Yesterday was my first day off since the snow started and I had to take it off to go do a BROCK show in Delaware. It went well, but I was exhausted. At the same TIMe, I am advancing and preparing for the TR acoustic shows in CO and for the drive out and also starting to set up the Chris Whitley tour that I will be embarking on shortly after the TR tour. Again, sorry for my absence, but I am just so damn busy, busy, busy. I will post more when I have some FREE TIMe(if there is such a thing HEHE) |

Posted - 02/24/2003 : 8:29:04 PM Hey Fluffy, drop me an email the next TIMe you are in the area. Delaware is a very small state. I use to live in Wilmington. It's about an hour ride from here. |

Posted - 02/22/2003 : 4:02:50 PM Hey Fluffy, good luck with everything! Just remember, everybody needs a little bit of their own TIMe everyday. I firmly believe that even taking 15 minutes of doing something that you REALLY want to do may seem minimal, but can keep you together during any hectic day. Following that ideology gets me through TIMes when I feel like I am being bent so far I could break in half, and keeps me pleasantly self-centered. Have fun with everything you are doing! |

Posted - 02/21/2003 : 6:43:00 PM Thanks for the update Fluffy! See ya in CA when you guys roll around. I wonder if I am still a member of Chris' street team... I forgot if it was through him, or through ATO. |

Posted - 02/21/2003 : 6:32:38 PM Fluffy is a closet nancies addict, I knew it! Hahaha, just kidding. I think the majority of us appreciate any time you spend here at all, no worries man. Always good to see you hop in and post 80 times, but we can survive for a few days here and there without ya! Hard to believe, I know |

Posted - 02/21/2003 : 5:53:43 PM I found this awhile back on nancies.org:
MMJ/ATO Official, Whitley Gone By Waldo Jaquith Nov.22.2002
ATO Records appears to have made it official: they have signed Louisville, Kentucky-based My Morning Jacket as their newest artist, as was expected. ATO hasn't issued any sort of an announcement, but MMJ's inclusion on their artists listing webpage makes things clear. The site indicates that MMJ anticipates releasing their first album on the ATO imprint this coming spring. Interestingly, ATO has dropped from the same artists listing Chris Whitley, who they signed in the spring of 2001. Not much has been heard about Whitley since a July 2001 debacle in which he had to be escorted from the stage, resulting in the immediate removal of him from the lineup of openers during the summer 2001 tour. Presumably, ATO has severed their ties with Whitley. ATO Records was launched in early 2000 by Coran Capshaw, Dave Matthews, Michael McDonald and Chris Tetzeli. Our thanks to Israel Jones for the tip.
To my understanding, ATO has definitely severed ties with CW and he is now resigned to Messenger Records, which is the label he had previously been signed to, and the label that had released "Dirt Floor". I do not have a complete itinerary yet for the CW tour as we are just in the planning and finalizing stages. You can be sure I will post as soon as I have complete details. I have been told that the CW tour will start on the east coast, south, across the south to California, up the west coast to canada and then back to SLC UT and then finish on the east coast. Quite an area to cover in 6 weeks. When I have a schedule I will be sure to pass it on. I did find this site with a bit of the newest CW news:
News: Read about Hotel Vast Horizon at Rollingstone.com ~ In November 2002, CW signed a recording deal with Messenger Records for the US and Fargo Records for Europe; his new CD will be out in April 2003 ~ CW may record a blues album in the southern US this spring ~ CW is featured (writer and performer) on Kai-Uwe Kohlschmidt and Warner Poland's soundtrack for Pigs Will Fly, a german film directed by Eoin Moore ~ Fargo Records has released a 2-CD version of Rocket House that includes a 10-song bonus CD ~

As for Delaware, we played last nite with BROCK in Wilmington DE at a club called Backstage Cafe. It was a great show with an OK turnout. Apparently they had had a BEACH Party of some kind so the whole club was filled with sand and that was a major drag. Also the power went out 1/2 way thru BROCK's last song, so the show ended kind of abruptly for him and us. HEHE All it all it was a great show and alot of fun. Sorry again, I wish I had thought to mention it sooner on the board and maybe you could have come Liz. It was a free show, but I don't know how far Wilmington is from you. Anyway, I am sure we will be back. This was only BROCK's 3rd (official)show and I am sure there will more to come in the future. |

Posted - 02/21/2003 : 4:48:14 PM ooohh. Just saw this on ticketmaster.com quote: Thu, 05/01/03 8:00 pm Chris Whitley Roxy Theatre West Hollywood, CA
I might just have to make plans for that show!
I also noticed that CW has yet another new record label. What is the story there? Did ATO release Chris after the drinking problem from the last tour, or did the contract just run-out? Sorry if that is too personal of a question... but just wondering. |

Posted - 02/21/2003 : 4:38:37 PM Fluffy, I know what you mean... I'm not even sure If I'll be able to make it out to LA on friday for the wrestling show... just way too much to do with work and school.. jeesh and I don't even have any tours to plan for. Good luck with handling everything Buddy! We all know you kick ass, so you can do it.
What's the word on the Chris Whitley tour? I definatley wouldn't mind catching Chris again. |

Posted - 02/21/2003 : 3:45:54 PM Fluffy, message boards are a two-way street. You can't just stop posting and then post to cover-up for your shortcomings. When you do things like this, it makes us all wonder whether you are ready to take it to the next level. All this talk about work and tours...where's the quality time?!?! Are you posting on another message board??!?!!
Har-har, just having a little fun...sounds like you are going to be super-busy for awhile...good luck, drive safe, and enjoy your trip! |
