Posted - 02/09/2003 : 12:40:15 PM Yeah, I have all of his albums...Sky Like A Broken Clock was recorded with Billy Conway from Morphine and Larry Taylor from Tom Waits's band. It's a really great album! Here's a link to the lyrics to song off that album called "Flashcards" http://www.timreynolds.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3057&SearchTerms=lyrics
It's so cool cause these guys NEVER played together before, and fifteen minutes into the first day, they played together perfectly. The entire albums was tracked in three days, all at once, and nothing took more than three takes. And Kelly Joe completely re-did Beggar's Oil into the version on that site in one day. It was originally a faster-paced tune.
What did you think about his lyrics? I think they are some of the best. He tells these great stories with every song. I don't know if you know he's also a lapslide player. Man is he great on both guitars. If you'd like, I can find the link to a video of him playing "Taylor John" on lapslide, taken from Craig Kilborn's show. Him and TR are by far the best improv. guitarists out there...accually, KJP is always improving, as sometimes the only way you can recognize a tune of his is just by the lyrics, which he also always sings diferently. Truly an amazing musician, one of the best in the world for sure. |
