Posted - 01/05/2003 : 08:26:16 AM It is great to see some other Frank fans here! I just got Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar for my birthday. Oh MY! I also forgot about how much I love it. I used to listen to it all the TIMe, but it was part of my uncles collection so I never owned it. I always buy alot of Frank because I'm trying to get everything of his but had left this little gem out. I highly suggest everyone here give it a listen. I'm pretty sure this group would love it all. five-five-FIVE, Hog Heaven, Gee I Like Your Pants...just a few of my favs.

Posted - 01/04/2003 : 8:10:46 PM Actually, it is quite synchronistic that you mentioned that, I was going to mention that that is my all-time fave Zappa album in my last post, but I didn't want to seem like I was suggesting to much all at once. SUaPYG is the best one I could recommend to musicians who just want to check out Zappa's ability at playing and arranging, but for my money, Joes Garage is the album I put on most by him. That and Sheik Yerbouti. Also worthy of note are Absolutely Free and Freak Out. Of course, I know Evergreen has some different preferences, but that is the great thing about Frank, so much to choose from and it is all great. |

Posted - 01/03/2003 : 8:32:05 PM I highly suggest the collection "Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar". One of the clubs we played on the last leg was playing this during soundcheck and in between bands. I hadn't heard it in few years and was re-blown away by it. An amazing collection of guitar composition. |
