Posted - 11/25/2002 : 7:51:58 PM I've got every episode of the Simpsons, and I noticed that a lot of people around here are Simpsons fans. Would anyone be interested in a Simpsons FTP from my server? I was thinking about doing something like making a new season available every couple days or so. If you're interested, let me know, if not...no big deal (just offering). I'm sure most of you probably have all or most of the episodes, I'm just wondering if its worth my time. |

Posted - 11/26/2002 : 3:45:52 PM Can't get into the TR FTP because it's offline. Maybe we're just not doing it right. Can you give us a link to click on that will take us straight to the FTP? |

Posted - 11/26/2002 : 2:23:26 PM My server is behind a firewall, but its not affecting the ftp. Can you guys get into the tim/reynolds account??? If so, then the problem is on my end in regards only to that account, and I'll change the episodes to the working account. |

Posted - 11/26/2002 : 2:19:55 PM In that case, I can't connect. Period. Don't know what the problem is, but I'm not doing anything wrong. Maybe it's a firewall (university), but patrick had a problem too. but he's probably at school too...maybe that's the problem. Don't know how to check firewalls. |

Posted - 11/26/2002 : 2:14:41 PM There are only 3 things you have to fill in after installing the program. 1.) domain/address -> enter my domain address 2.) user name -> homer 3.) password -> simpson
***The profile name is whatever you want to label the account so that you can quickly bring it up later on (ie- "Simpsons Downloads", or "Homer Rulez", or whatever clever name you wish to give it) ***The port should be Port 21 ***Everything else you can leave alone. If you did change stuff and you don't know what you did, simply re-install the program and refer back to the 3 things above. |

Posted - 11/26/2002 : 2:05:35 PM Ok help me here:
What would the "profile name" be?
And "host type"?
Maybe that's my problem. |

Posted - 11/26/2002 : 2:04:08 PM Hey everyone. I'm at work now and I just got a chance to read about the Simpsons problems. I can't fix it right now (obviously), but I will definitely do it later. I seem to be able to log in from work, so I really don't know what the problem is. My computer is on at home and it says the server is running, because I just logged in as the sdministrator, and then on the homer/simpson account. Keep trying and keep me posted. Until i hear otherwise, I'll assume its still down and will resolve it later...I'm really sorry everyone!? |

This is what I was referring to.
And I can't get to the FTP either. |

Posted - 11/26/2002 : 10:03:35 AM Um...all of them? Patrick, see if you can log into the server, just so I know if it's a problem on my end or his. Thanks.

Posted - 11/26/2002 : 09:18:09 AM Just tried this at work and it won't work. Maybe you just don't have it on yet? I'll try later. |

Posted - 11/25/2002 : 11:38:07 PM Try to log in to the ftp in my signature. If you get in, download the WSFTP_LE. Its a kick-ass ftp client program and its only 690 KB. After that, try the user name-> homer, password-> simpson log in again...
Hope it works... |

Posted - 11/25/2002 : 11:14:30 PM Ok, I just used the FTP program on my computer and it said the ftp was unreachable. And I think I was doing it right, too...so maybe it really is unreachable at this moment.
So I'm not sure I'll be able to get the shows from you after all since I'm not sure I have a ftp program at work. I guess I could just download and install one.. We'll see. |

Posted - 11/25/2002 : 11:07:34 PM Hmmm...well, I guess you'll have to tell me how to use the ftp site. I thought I knew. I'm not sure I have a ftp downloading program like "cute" or whatever, but I thought I could do it thru the browser. If that's possible, do you think you can make that information into a link so that I can click it and it will supply the login/pass? Maybe that doesn't make sense, but I'll try to get all the shows tomorrow if I can get into the ftp. I just tried and I can't. But like I said, that could just be my mistake. Let me go try again. |

Posted - 11/25/2002 : 10:53:23 PM The entire Season 3 is up right now. Try to log in (if possible) and see if its working right. Cool?
The episode titles are as follows (template): -it will be the season # followed by the episode # ie: 3-1 is the third season, episode 1 (just so there's no confusion)
There are 24 episodes in Season 3. However, since this is an early season, I only have 22 (sorry - can't find the other two). Is it possible for you to get them all tomorrow at work? If you could then Wednesday I could put up Season 4, and so on...
In the folder is Season 3, the free Real Player G2, and Global Divx Player (sweeet). Just install both onto your computer (unless the shows work already which means you don't need them) and you're good to go. FYI: only few of the episodes are in real player format, and only the earlier episodes.
Use the same ip address as below. And as you requested the "user name/pass" is "homer/simpson" (no quotes)

Posted - 11/25/2002 : 10:06:30 PM Well I'm at the downloading computer from 8 to 5 central, which I guess would be 9 to 6 for you... But I'm not good with timezones. A codec bundle would probably be good, but I'm not sure I'd know how to use it. Season three also good...
As for user/pass probably homer/simpson would be good. Ok, thanks man, sounds good.

Posted - 11/25/2002 : 9:49:04 PM You can just use Windows Media Player if you have that at work, if not, I can put a player and codecs in the ftp folder (bundle). They have no commercials!!! (with the exception of about maybe 5 throughout the entire catalogue). When would be a good time to make it available??? (please tell me time zone if other than eastern)
I'm putting season 3 in there as we speak, but there'll be a separate log in for those (so that I can keep some organization).
Let me know times and what not...in the mean time, I'll set up the ftp account. I'll get back to y'all with the ip address and user/pass. |
enthuTIMsiast |
Posted - 11/25/2002 : 9:18:02 PM Well as long as I can download them at work and burn them to cd, I'll be set. How about commercials and all that? Commercial free? Maybe that's a silly question? And what will I use to watch them? I hope this won't spark a whole new round of "getting the right codecs" and all that...

Posted - 11/25/2002 : 8:33:03 PM Well, enthuTIMsiast says that I have to, so I guess I will then... I was thinking of starting with season 3 because the first two seasons are released on dvd. They are approx 80MB an episode and most are in *.avi format with a few *.mpg. |

Posted - 11/25/2002 : 8:09:54 PM If I had more of a hard drive, I'd be interested. Then I could go watch some of these episodes the guys make comments about all the time!
How big is a single epidose? And what format are they in? |
