My friend Gina, me, and my friend Eric and his g/f, Alyssa were supposed to take a trip up to Mystic Lake Casino/Hotel in Minneapolis, MN. We were all set, with each couple ready for fork over 225 bucks a piece to make it a great weekend, as far as gas, food, hotel, etc...

Then, my friend breaks up with his g/f, so now it's down to the three of us, each of us having to now come up with 150 to go on this trip and have it not suck. My friend has no job, no prospects of a job, and no money saved up. Every time we go out, he has to get money from his parents...money that if he had been saving for probably a month, he'd have 150 easy......he's 21.....

He tells us he will go, his mom will give him 200 dollars. We get ourselves excited...my friend Gina invites her friend Robyn, who is poor because she is about to lose her job, so we decide to let her freeload, give us like 20 bucks for gas or whatever, stay in our room at the hotel, and then bring whatever she wants for gambling/food. Then tonight find out Eric's parents no longer will give him money...not one cent.

So either I go alone with my one friend Gina and her friend Robyn, and probably wind up getting ditched, and pay out the ass for the trip. Or, I invite Eric along, and let him freeload also, hoping maybe his parents will take pity on Gina and I and give us money to make up for his lazy ass not having a job.

Basicaly what it comes down to is this: I want a Roland MC-303 Groove Box GODDAMNIT and now I can't get one. I had it all planned out, I pay X amount for the trip, X amount for the Groove Box, and have money left over for new tires for my car. I have been this close to getting a Groove Box 5 times now, and haven't gotten one yet (car repairs, medical bills, etc...).

The Groove Box, I should explain, is vital to me realizing my vision of the music that I create, and what I want it to be, and this trip shouldn't get in the way. The trip wasn't going to get in the way, until Eric crapped out on us. And I really want to go on the trip because both Gina and I need it to get away from our jobs because theyre making us fucking nuts.

This isn't really going anywhere, I'm just fucking pissed as all hell. Thanks for reading. And any ideas would be helpful.

Damn I'm doing a lot of whining lately.

Haha, pcbdmb is trying to slip a Simpsons quote on us. I forget the characters name, but he was voiced by Donald Sutherland, and he was talking to Lisa when she figured out that the town hero was nothing more than a fake.

We live in Cedar Rapids Iowa. It's about a 4.5 hour drive to Mystic from where we are. We've had these reservations for a couple months now, and we all really wanted to go, and still want to go.

I actually may have figured out a way, crunching numbers at work today, that I can go and still get my groove box, all the while wearing my tires down until they are nice and smooth.....then again, i want to get a new car anyway, so why buy new tires??

Sucks man... but to me, travelling can be important... important enough to put off buying something you want. The trip will come and go, and you get the experience and the memories... but it's unique and cannot be recreated. The groove box will be the same whether you buy it now or in a few months... and once you have it, you have it the same way indefinitely. If you will enjoy the trip, then get away for a few days... everyone needs a break from time to time.
