SYSTEM OF A DOWN LEADS AN EXPEDITION THROUGH THE VAULTS WITH “STEAL THIS ALBUM” Fans Get Original, Completed, Unreleased Material
Steal This Album, a collection of never-before-released original tracks from the vaults of multi-platinum recording artist SYSTEM OF A DOWN, will be released in time for the Holiday Season on American Recordings/Columbia Records.
Produced by Rick Rubin and System’s guitarist Daron Malakian, and currently being mixed in Los Angeles by Andy Wallace (who mixed the Toxicity album), Steal This Album will feature from 12 to 17 tracks whose roots go back as far as before the group signed their 1995 contract with American, and as recent as the 2001 Toxicity sessions

Posted - 01/03/2003 : 4:33:29 PM This is a very great album (System of a Down - Steal This Album)! I found out why there are all the different "limited edition" cover arts. Each was designed by a band member. I got the one that looks like a bootleg. The others are cool, too, however. If I had 60$, I'd buy them all for the hell of it.
Funny, I'd been listening to the cd for some time, but at work, I was sitting doing something, concentrating, really, and the song that was playing in my head was the song that SOAD was singing... it was a random matching of thought/music that I rarely experience, and greatly appreciate. That's when I realized that I love this album. |

Posted - 12/22/2002 : 5:46:19 PM Funny story about the new System CD, we have an edited promo copy in my store, which I was playing last night. After a while, I noticed this older woman, about 50 or so, rocking out to the music, eventually she asked my coworker what was playing and she ended up buying the cd! ROCK OUT LADY!! |

Posted - 12/16/2002 : 11:36:33 AM Kevin, why are there four different covers for the explicit version of this album, and yet another for the edited one? I don't get that... |

Posted - 12/13/2002 : 5:25:09 PM I think I'm going to be making an amazon.com order soon, so maybe I'll get this one... Since walmart carries only clean versions and the only other place has cds starting at 19.99, I have to get from amazon.com... and their shipping is free now, so that's great. |

Will do. Maybe BMG has it and I'll just get it thru there. I've waited this long, I guess another couple of weeks won't hurt me. And I'll check for the one you mentioned in stores. Is Steal This Album the name of it? yeah, I guess I see that now.. |

Posted - 10/20/2002 : 3:45:34 PM Areals is probably the song you are hearing on the radio with the chanting. Seriously though, go get that CD... it rocks from beginning to end. Probably album of the year for last year in my opinion. |

Posted - 10/20/2002 : 3:41:50 PM I don't think I ever posted my review of these guys at Ozzfest this summer... anyways their setup was awesome and it reminded me of what Tim is doin now with the video screen in back while they played. It reminded me when Silky mentioned Chop Suey because the video playing in the background was fast motion clips of a dad drinking coffee, it was pretty funny. The video screen added so much to their performance though. Some of it was very powerful like during Arials, images of bombs hiting the middle east were shown. Im making it my goal now to see these guys at a smaller venue (hopefully) so I can try for front row tickets and not be sitting out in the lawn. |

Posted - 10/20/2002 : 3:41:31 PM hahaha...that was a good song, I thought. There's another one playing on the radio now I think that rock pretty hard too. No idea what it's called, but the singer goes into some sort of mantra chant thing that really kicks ars...don't know why I don't have their album yet... |
Silky The Pimp |
Posted - 10/20/2002 : 3:27:21 PM In that first song to make it big on mtv and the radio... I think it was called something like "Chop Suey" ... I couldn't help but laugh because when the guy starts going really fast, it reminded me of Beavis going nuts on sugar and becoming Cornholio. |

Posted - 10/20/2002 : 3:13:49 PM I never got any of their first albums, but I always did dig them. I'll have to get that and the new/old one you just metioned Kevin. And I agree, that's a good point Erich, and something I wouldn't have thought, but I also see Kevin's point. I'll have to check it out. |

Posted - 10/20/2002 : 3:07:16 PM ah, that makes a whole lot more sence now. and thats totaly cool that theyre kind of taking the damage by doing something awsome like this, great. and that also means new material is being written |

Posted - 10/20/2002 : 2:27:22 PM Hey Erich, that a good point, but I encourage you to go to their website and read that whole article. They talk a lot about this being a bridge to their new cd, and how he feels that many of these songs were better than those on Toxicity but they didnt fit into the continuity of the album. Serj also mentioned that it was because these songs are starting to leak out on the internet, that it made them rush the release of them. |

Posted - 10/20/2002 : 1:27:06 PM Ive seen SOAD 4 times now, and I Love them. I think theyre probably the freshest sounding hard rock / metal group to come out in a long time. But i also feel this is a slightly negative thing...
I think that a band with only one or two albums out should focus on moving forwards, not backwards. Its like LinkinPark who released a remix album. I think its the idea that they are on the decline of their popularity wave, and to hold onto it as much as posible you have to place old material on the table. Dont get me wrong, their last two albums were increadible and Im really excited for this one, but I think if they were really smart they wouldve used this material as "new" and not released it as "old" stuff. Ozzy has said in the past that when hes working on an album, he writes enough for two albums. if one sucks, hes got stuff for the second .
But its still good news. |
