maybe this is one-too-many bela-related threads, but i recently figured out 'big country' (bela's part) by the flecktones on my guitar. i love this song, if you havent heard it you should check it out.

I'll give it a try. Thanks!

well yeah, just to a greater extent. you tune ALL of the strings down to a d, except the a string. drop the low e down a whole step, leave the a string and the d string alone, then tune the g-string ALL THE WAY DOWN until it matches the tone exactly of your d string (so you will have two strings that sound exactly alike when played open). then go ahead and tune the b and high-e down to d also. if im not being clear enough let me know.

How do you tune it to open D? Is that just drop-D tuning?

pcb, i play it in open d with a capo on the 5th fret. it was one of those things where you start messing around, and notice that what youre playing kind of sounds like something else, and then you go from there. i didnt exactly figure it out while listening to the song, so ive never played along with it. but you can figure it out from memory that way. try it out.

Definitely! I've wanted to play that song ever since the first TIMe I heard it.

Oh and.......we can never have too many Bela threads.

Can you post it? Big Country is one of the best songs every written, in my opinion. It's simply beautiful.
