I think the numbers he liked were 100, 400, and 2500...these are all perfect squares...

10x10=100
20x20=400
50x50=2500

So the answer is 900 because
30x30=900

That one was pretty tuff....

And I didn't understand the One where the guy likes 400 not 300 and 100 not 99 and 2500 not 2400 what number does he like?
900 1000 1100 1200
The only thing I could even think of guessing was 1100 and the thought process is a little tricky to explain. Usually you don't have to go that deep to figure them out.

Your IQ score is 144

This number is the result of a formula based on how many questions you answered correctly on Emode's Ultimate IQ test. Your IQ score is scientifically accurate; to read more about the science behind our IQ test, click here.

During the test, you answered four different types of questions — mathematical, visual-spatial, linguistic and logical. We analyzed how you did on each of those questions which reveals how your brain uniquely works.

We also compared your answers with others who have taken the test. According to the sorts of questions you got correct, we can tell your Intellectual Type is a Visionary Philosopher.

This means you are highly intelligent and have a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a variety of different ways. Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others — and at anticipating and predicting patterns. And that's just some of what we know about you from your IQ results.

Find out more about your unique intellectual strengths in your personalized 15-page IQ report. It's ready right now!

I'm a friggin' Visionary Philosopher. WOOHOO! I think I ACED this test. Look out Einstein...here I come!

Oh yeah...the fruit thing...

the answer they are looking for is grapes. The other items grow on trees. If you were a real braniac you could have answered bananas and still been right...if you were basing the answer on the hardness of the seeds....goofy test anyway...but kinda fun.

Fluffy, your TV family is the Bradys!

Here's the story, of a TV family, that was really very much like yours. That's right — you're The Bradys. Unconventional, blended, and hip in a very square way, Mike, Carol, Greg, Marcia, Peter, Jan, Bobby, Cindy, and even Alice are your family's TV soulmates.

We're guessing you, too, have (or had) family meetings to settle even the most trivial matters — or maybe you had a card house-building contest to decide if you were going to get a sewing machine or a boat. Either way, just like the Brady Bunch, your family has always managed to stick together through thick and thin, and we're willing to bet that nary a one of you is a quitter. So what are you waiting for? Go plan a family trip to Hawaii or the Grand Canyon right now! Just be sure to keep your hands off your siblings — we don't care how groovy-looking they are.

Fluffy, you are Balanced-brained

That means you are able to draw on the strengths of both the right and left hemispheres of your brain, depending upon a given situation.

When you need to explain a complicated process to someone, or plan a detailed vacation, the left hemisphere of your brain, which is responsible for your ability to solve problems logically, might kick in. But if you were critiquing an art opening or coming up with an original way to file papers, the right side of your brain, which is responsible for noticing subtle details in things, might take over.

While many people have clearly dominant left- or right-brained tendencies, you are able to draw on skills from both hemispheres of your brain. This rare combination makes you a very creative and flexible thinker.

The down side to being balanced-brained is that you may sometimes feel paralyzed by indecision when the two hemispheres of your brain are competing to solve a problem in their own unique ways.

Your IQ score is 135

This number is the result of a formula based on how many questions you answered correctly on Emode's Ultimate IQ test.

The even better news is that at Emode, we've taken your IQ test one step further. During the test, you answered four different types of questions — mathematical, visual-spatial, linguistic and logical. We were able to analyze how you did on each set of those questions, which allows us to shed light on the way your brain uniquely functions.

At the same time, we compared your answers with others who have taken the test, and according to the sorts of questions you got correct, we can tell your Intellectual Type is a Word Warrior.

The first thing we can tell you about that is you are equipped with a verbal arsenal that enables you to understand complex issues and communicate on a particularly high level. But that's just scratching the surface.

I didn't intend my observation to sound mean; I was just trying to make a point similar to DirtySloth's test taking skills comment: I think a *REAL* IQ evaluation wouldn't test math/reading skills. Otherwise somebody who has been living under a rock and hasn't gone to school (like "Nell" - remember that movie) could never be tested.

you are Left-brained

Most left-brained people like you feel at ease in situations requiring verbal ability, attention to detail, and linear, analytical ability. Whether you know it or not, you are a much stronger written communicator than many, able to get your ideas across better than others.

It's also likely that you are methodical and efficient at many things that you do. You could also be good at math, particularly algebra, which is based on very strict rules that make sense to your logical mind.

OK.....ignore my post. dirtysloth explained it much more succinctly.

"Well you know boys, a nuclear reactor's a lot like a woman: you just have to read the manual and push the right button." - Homer
pcbTIM Posted - 09/19/2002 : 7:08:47 PM
No.....you're taking the wrong approach. First, you should draw out what each car does independently. Let's just say that one car travels 6 miles to the right, and then turns left (up) and travels eight miles: cooridinates(6,8). Now.....the other car travels left 6 miles and then down 8: coordinates(-6,-8). The distance between them would be a straight line that goes from (-6,-8) to (6,8). This line passes through the origin. Now, the easiest way to solve, is to see on car's movements as a triangle. The 6 is the adjacent and the 8 is the opposite. Now you use the pythagorean theorem....a^2 + b^2 = c^2, where a and b are 6 and 8. C (the hypotenuse) comes out to be 10. And since the other car did the same thing in the other direction, it is also 10.....therefore making the answer 20.

P.S. this would be much easier to explain if I could draw on this message board.

"Well you know boys, a nuclear reactor's a lot like a woman: you just have to read the manual and push the right button." - Homer
dirtysloth Posted - 09/19/2002 : 7:02:55 PM
Nope. It's looking for the shortest path. If you draw a line from one endpoint to the other, you will end up with two triangles. This question involves the equation a^2 + b^2 = c^2. That is, the sum of the squares of the sides equals the square of the hypotenuse. 6 squared is 36, plus 8 squared, which is 64, equals 100. Take the square root of that, 10, and multiply that by two, and you get 20. That's the answer.

Saint Jude Posted - 09/19/2002 : 6:47:45 PM
i got a 129... this question really pissed me off....

Two cars start off at the same point on a straight highway facing opposite directions. Each car drives for 6 miles, takes a left turn, and drives for 8 miles. How far apart are the two cars?

Each car drives for 6 miles - their 12 miles apart, both drove 6 miles

takes a left turn, and drives for 8 miles - that would be 16 miles there right... so wouldnt it be 28 total miles... but that wasnt an option.... anyone.

I got a 135, whatever that means. It says I'm a "Facts Curator". How high does it go anyway? I've never taken a real IQ test before. Um. I don't really think it's a good way to measure intelligence. It just means that you're good at taking tests. There are many other kinds of intelligences... music, for instance. Maybe a person is horrible at an IQ test, but is intelligent because of how musically creative they are. In fact, Howard Gardner came up with the "Multiple Intelligences Theory" and he says there are seven, of which they only test four here. And there really are many more I think. So it is fun to do, just for fun, but it definitely isn't a way to compare intelligence levels with anyone else(unlike post counts).
