Posted - 07/07/2002 : 01:08:21 AM Does anyone listen to him? He's an Austrailian blues/rock/jazz/world musicain. He's played with Chris Whitley before, he's really great. I saw him when he opened for KJP. He's one hell of a nice guy, too! Check oot his cover of 1952 Vincent Black Lightning. It's amazing.

Posted - 08/15/2006 : 1:08:56 PM You're going to love this, I have a raw copy from the original recording sessions and it's really good. Chris didn't like it but I think it's wonderful. I can't wait for my copy of the finished one with the added tracks. Nice to have something to look forward to. Peace, Robin |

Posted - 07/18/2006 : 1:54:17 PM An update:
I was informed by our Jeff Lang expert, Mr. Jay, that Dislocation Blues is set for an Australian release on August 12th.
From Jay himself: quote: ...you can pre-order at www.jbhifionline.com.au/music/id/898949 It's 30.99 australian, which is right around 23 american, including taxes and shipping. Not sure about the stateside date, though.
I'll definitely be ordering it! Well worth the $23 bucks, especially since I got most of CW's backcatalogue for around $10 a CD. |

Posted - 06/25/2006 : 4:45:35 PM This week marks the first domestic release in the US for Jeff Lang. It is a greatest hits of sorts put out by Telarc called "Prepare Me Well, an Introduction to Jeff Lang". On the inside liner notes, it says that the album is dedecated to Chris Whitley. Also of interest to Jeff Lang fans might be that all tracks were remastered in 2005, I'm sure there is some older stuff on there since Jay tells me a lot is out of print from Jeff. Anyways, just thought some people might want to know since it otherwise costs about 30 bucks to track down a cd of his, since they are only available in Australia. |

Posted - 03/20/2006 : 10:27:37 AM I've got these:
Real Scars: Live stuff, loud amplified acoustic, kind Neil Young and Crazy Horse type stuff. With the rhythm section mentioned in the notes about the record with Chris Whitley. Crowd in Every Face: Live, some with a band some without Silverbacks: Studio album with Hat Fitz---loud, crazy Australian bush-blues. Disturbed Folk 1: Another live set, early in his career, lots of 12-string, pretty folky.
Anyway, you can read about these at jefflang.com.au

Posted - 03/20/2006 : 01:39:30 AM I love the stuff I heard Jeff playing on a live show with CW. I'll have to look into his own material, but I can't wait for this last CW/JL album. |

Posted - 03/19/2006 : 8:07:58 PM Jay: yeah, it came as a 2 disc set although I haven't listened to the live disc as much. What do you have that is out of print? |

Posted - 03/12/2006 : 9:36:02 PM Oh I forgot to mention, that when I was emailing Jeff's manager back and forth for a while about carrying his cds over here, he mentioned to me that a "Best Of" cd will be released this summer in the U.S. and will be Jeff's first cd available domestically. That should be cool! |

Dislocation Blues
A Chris Whitley and Jeff Lang collaborative album called "Dislocation Blues" due to be released in 2006 features several songs sung by Chris as well as Chris's playing featured on most cuts...this CD has some absolutely brilliant moments that no Chris Whitley fan or Jeff Lang fan for that matter will go away dissapointed...
Statement from Jeff Lang: "The record that I was fortunate enough to make with Chris is a studio record, not a live one. We recorded 12 songs in Melbourne during April this year for a full-length CD, a collaboration between us. It is very bitter/sweet to talk about in light of the loss of the man, but against that the recording is full of incredibly beautiful singing and playing by Chris. We wrote a couple of new songs together for the recording, and also recorded versions of Chris' songs Velocity Girl, Dislocation Blues, Rocket House (very different version to that on the Rocket House album, two nationals with Chris' boot board). Chris also sang amazing renditions of the traditional song Stagger Lee, Dylan's When I Paint My Masterpiece, Forever In my Life by Prince (incredibly soulful singing) and he and I traded verses on Dylan's Changing Of The Guard as well as tracking a couple of my songs. It was recorded live in a wonderful sounding room, with a great recording engineer in a no-stress environment over three days. Of the twelve songs Chris sung seven, I sung four (with Chris singing harmony throughout one) and we both sung one together (the aforementioned Dylan song). All but three songs are with a great rhythm section - Grant Cummerford on upright and electric bass, and Ashley Davies on drums. There were also some live tracks selected for a bonus disc.
Right now, I'm not certain of when it will be released. It was our plan that it would come out in the first half of 2006, and I am hopeful that this will still happen.
I'm sure you will find out as soon as details are arranged. Being able to work with Chris is something that I'll be forever proud of."

Posted - 03/12/2006 : 8:39:04 PM Jay,
You'll be proud to know that I got "You have to Dig Deep to Burry Daddy" and I LOVE it. I asked the guy at our corporate headquarters who deals with imports to carry Jeff's cds, so now Virgin carries most of them. I otherwise couldn't find his stuff anywhere else aside from his Aussie site. I'll have to look into some of his back-catalogue next. I see that he is opening for Jogn Butler Trio in the U.S. I might have to catch a show just for Jeff is he plays near bye.
