this thing is very very kewl. i think tim would take a great liking to it, especially when doing songs like his harmonic dew drop to into him. it is great for the looped tones in the backround and moving up and down a scale of your choosing.
check em out if u got 95 bucks to spare.

Good idea, Like TR his albums are very diverse from album to album. That is one of the things I like about him as well. If you don't like one, don't give up, try a few different albums. He even has a jazz album. I think it is on Blue Note. Check the website I posted above, they will probably have more details about each album. 66 Elmira St is really good as well.

i've heard of the tellemaster danny gatton. Only heard that he's really good, but still... no songs have reached my ears by him yet

Of all the guitar players on this board, only 1 has heard of Danny Gatton? This really surprises me. Especially with all the SRV fans on the board. Danny gets mentioned alot in interviews and stories about SRV. Check him out!

Danny Gatton was definitely the man. I can't think of a telecaster without imagining the things he could do with it. I bet seeing him live really was incredible! Such a shame that he died.

Another kewl guitar effect thingamabobby is "The Magic Dingus Box" pioneered by Danny Gatton. If you have never heard him I highly suggest the everybody(especially the geetar players)check him out. Here is a link to his website:

I highly recommend "Unfinished Business" or "Redneck Jazz", both great albums. Guitar players will be amazed. Seeing him live was a treat the way seeing TR is a treat. Unfortunately Danny is no longer with us, but his music lives on. Right after he died there were tributes in guitar magazines and even tribute albums. Some of what most consider to be the best guitarists in the world had wonderful things to say about DG. Most commented that he was one of the most under-rated guitar players of our generation. Much like TR again. Also check out his guitars. He has some of the most beautiful guitars I have ever seen. Here is an excerpt from a magazine about the Magic Dingus Box.
Gatton Gear
Reprinted from July 1993 Guitar Player magazine.
Although Gatton works on most of his equipment himself, Jay Monterose takes care of his gear on the road, fabricates stainless steel parts, and handles most of the electronic work. "Jay is the best welder in the world," Gatton comments. "He's made things that have gone on the space shuttle." One of Monterose's current projects is updating Gatton's Magic Dingus box, a guitar-mounted control device that operates an Echoplex, amp reverb and vibrato, phase shifters, and other effects. Monterose is working on a wireless version.

I'm not a huge fan, neat-o gadgets don't really impress me that much. Technology is of course a great thing in amp modeling and gadgets like the ebow, but I'm just a rocker, primitive and ape-like.

that's with the new ones. i have an old one and it does that. sometimes at inappropriate moments.

Yeah, there are two modes. One mode will give you the actual note you play, and the other mode will give you harmonics. For instance, if you played an A on G string second fret, it would still be an A but an octave higher.

ebows own. what they're electromagnets, basically. they vibrate the strings without any pick attack and can hold a note indefinately. there's no pick attack, so it sounds like a woodwind or violin or other things. lots of guitarists use them. the dude from stabbing westward, black crowes, U2, rem, me, ect. they're great. you can get cool harmonics things going on with them, too.

Ebows are really cool. Not very practical for playing on acoustics though.

when i first heard Tim playing his autoswell notes i was so convinced he used an ebow to do that. (later i found out it's not, but stil...)

The ebow is this little device that you hold above the string and it uses these sonic waves or some shit to vibrate the strings, thusly creating sound...it really sounds like a volume swell...I've used one before and it's kinda tough at first, but you can get some sweet violin and mandolin kinda tones out of it.
