E---------------------
B---------------------
G--6-----------13----11
D--7-----------14----12
A--4-----------11----9
E--5---------- 12----10
(slide down to)
These sound great (in my opinion) for the opening. The slide works well too, I often hit the B string once or twice for added effect.
Then the Chorus.
E-------------------------
B--3----------5-----2-----3
G--4----------4-----2-----2
D--4----------2-----2-----0
A--2----------x-----2-----x
E-------------4-----------2
Now the Chorus is what I'm confused with. It sounds OK with the rhythm that Dave plays it on Luther. But I've seen a hundred different ways for the chorus (the beginning up top is the most accurate sounding one I've seen) HELP! I want to narrow this song down perfectly!!!!!!!!!

Nah... this is a DMB song so it's no biggie if someone is looking for it.

Hey Silky, being as this one is in the wrong section, I didn't want you to miss it. Does anything from this one need to be moved to the TAB page?

Please continue this post in the Tab section of the board so everyone can benefit from the info. I am afraid the tabbers or the people looking for tabs are gonna look in the Friends aBOARD the Space Pod section.

This is how I play it, it sounds a bit better if you ask me.

Intro/Verse:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------9----9-h-10-------------------------------------------
---6---6-h-7--9----9---------11-11-x-x-x--11--x--9--x--x--7-7-x-x-6-
---x---x------9----9---------x--x--x-x-x--x---x--0--x--x--0-0-x-x-x-
---4---4------11---11--------9--9--x-x-x--9---x--x--x--x--x-x-x-x-4-
---5---5------0----0---------10-10-x-x-x--10--x--9--x--x--7-7-x-x-5-
l
l
slide up to next chord

Chorus:
-------x----------|---------------
---3---5---2---2--|-----3---3--3--
---4---4---2---2--|-----2---2--2--
---4---2---2---0--|-----0---4--0--
---2---x---0---x--|-----x---x--x--
-------4-------2--|-----3---3--2--

End section:
---0---x----------------------
---0---3---3---3--------------
---2---2---2---2--------------
---2---0---4---0--------------
---0---x---x---x--------------
---x---3---3---2--------------

You've got to figure out the strumming by yourself.

I couldn't see Say Goodbye on this page. Dang. But given that it's probably mostly wrong, I guess that's ok.

I looked, and I don't play it like HTG. I won't bother with a tab (don't wanna embarass myself), but I think I'm pretty close.

Oh, wait, wait. I play it just like Silky said. So ok.

A word to the wise, there are almost NO accurate TABS on the web. I mean, some are pretty good yeah, but almost all of them need a little tweaking, whether its changing a chord position or dropping or adding a note to a chord or fill.

I am in no way saying I could tab any better than those peple that have sites with thousands of tabs on them, im just saying that almost no tabs ive found on the net have been 100% accurate, hell, TAB books arent 100% accurate.

Exactly... for the most part, other people's tabs should act as a starting place. Then you can figure out the real way from there. But internet tabs, for the most part, suck on deez pretty hard. Tab books are generally much more accurate, but still aren't always 100%.

...Especially when performers add/drop/change things based on how they feel at a given time. Dexterity isn't always the same; sometimes are more limber than others. Humidity changes things. Mood changes things. So that's cool. As long as I can play a song and it sounds like I want it to sound, so that I can recognize it as the song I'm trying to play, then we're good.

Its always this part that I couldn't ever figure out. Maybe because it's so simply obvious. Who knows.

Chorus:
|---3------
|---3---3--
|---0---2--
|---0---0--
|---2---x--
|---3---2--

Man, I feel stupid.

pcbTIM Posted - 04/01/2002 : 07:11:53 AM
That's almost identical to the way I play the chorus. I play it like this......

e--------------------
b---3----3----2----2-
g---4----4----2----2-
d---4----2----2----2-
a-2-2----2----0------
E------4-4--0-0--2-2-

No problem... I know how frustrating it can be to look up tabs on the internet and have them be off. I happen to be a human DMB tab book so I'm more than happy to share!

Silky, you are the man! Let me get this printed out and give it a shot. I really appreciate this.

Silky The Pimp Posted - 04/01/2002 : 01:17:31 AM
What you had was close... here's the real deal. Hope this helps.
-J

Intro/Verse:
-----------------------------
-------9---------------------
---6---9----11---6-----------
---x---9----x----x-----------
---4---11---9----4-----------
---5--------10---5-----------

Where you see the 4/6 above, that is playing in octaves... when you hear the slide between the A and E chords, and after the second A chord in the riff, dave is sliding the octave along... 4/6 to 5/7.

Chorus:
-------0----------|---3------
---3---0---2---2--|---3---3--
---4---4---2---2--|---0---2--
---4---2---2---0--|---0---0--
---2---x---0---x--|---2---x--
-------4-------2--|---3---2--

End:
---0---3---------------------
---0---3---3-----------------
---2---0---2-----------------
---2---0---0-----------------
---0---2---x-----------------
-------3---2-----------------
