Tim's New Solo Acoustic CD "That Way" - Available Online Now and In Stores January 6th

Between time in the Dave Matthews Band, his duo partnership with its famed front man, and leadership of his electric power trio, TR3, it's remarkable that Tim Reynolds still has time to tour by himself let alone release a new solo acoustic CD. The six and twelve-string guitar slinger lets his music do the talking as he unveils fourteen original tunes on "That Way" where he proves once again that his creativity and prowess are front and center.

According to Tim, "These songs are personal stories of my life that have meaning to me; some happy, some secret, some silly. I just want people to hear the voice of the guitar tell each story through the melodies. even though there are no lyrics." Reynolds' musical pace on "That Way" varies from gentle finger picking on "Hidden Variables" to the furiously fast and vibrant southern-slanted "Just Around the Corner" to the soaring chunky rocker "Manfood." His jaw-dropping precision and all around mastery of his axe shines at every complex corner. "Some songs just came out instantly, like 'Ode to the Box.' For others, I collected little snippets over time, then went back and tinkered with an idea or piece of it and moved it around. Then I put it away again," said Reynolds.

Reynolds’ inspiration for “That Way” came from years of absorbing parts of many different genres of music. “I love rock ‘n’ roll, especially 70s rock. When I listen to the Beatles, Genesis, and Yes, I want to hear how all the different parts play: not just the guitars. I’ve also been listening to classical music—Bartok since the 70s—and lately, 20th century string quartets, who I feel, are the most interesting and creative. If you listen to this stuff over a long span of time, it gets really familiar and gives me a germ of an idea or a little spark. Tumultuous music speaks to me. I get a very relevant awareness of different things that can happen in different times. Then I can improvise and open up what can be spontaneous for me. It’s a joy to hear such fresh and timeless music. It stretches your brain in a good way. It’s awesome. The inspiration for the strings on “Where Have the Years…” came from listening to string quartets. The cello and violin are doing exactly what my guitar is doing.”

Unlike most guitar players, Reynolds is a full-spectrum musician. His ears and fingers have a different lilt, a trait that keeps the sonics of his music interesting and filled with gentle unexpected flashes of brilliance—something noticeable in his delightfully unorthodox slide work. “That Way” is filled with road-tested tracks that lace various melodies and adventurous guitar improvisations and inspirations atop a seasoned palette of rock, Piedmont country style, and classical influences. It’s obvious that this ridiculously-gifted guitarist has so much fun sparking great, creative energy from his acoustic guitar.

“Like Some Kind of Alien Invasion” To Be Released October 7, 2014

TR3, the versatile electric power trio, consisting of DMB guitar slinger and collaborator Tim Reynolds, bassist Mick Vaughn, and drummer Dan Martier, has long been known for bending genres and ripping through tunes every musical style, from blues, funk, progressive, psychedelic, jazz fusion, metal, and classic rock, with each song seemingly building off the one before it.  Two years in the making, Like Some Kind of Alien Invasion, their first major label album release, features 14 new original songs by Reynolds and further solidifies TR3 as a consistent rock band with wide-ranging influences.

Just like a TR3 show, Like Some Kind of Alien Invasion runs the gamut from a soulful funky love song, “The Glow,” to the Southern rock-influenced “In the Zone,” with Tim’s riffs sounding like a crazier ZZ Top laid over Martier’s deft percussion and Vaughn’s powerful blues rumble to “All Over the Place” with Reynolds’ clean, lightening speed electric guitar licks with equally quick, syllabic vocals.

Reynolds feels Like Some Kind of Alien Invasion is TR3’s most satisfying album to date.  “It’s more sonically expansive and has more harmonic content than our previous works.  We used more acoustic guitars and varieties of guitar tones and really focused on making this a chord-rich effort,” says Reynolds.  Like Some Kind of Alien Invasion showcases Reynolds seemingly effortless guitar virtuosity, Vaughn’s wickedly funky bass, and the superlative rhythmic drumming of Martier.  The album is particularly adept at building and sustaining a groove, making every song feel like an essential part of the whole—just like a TR3 show.

Reynolds, Vaughn, and Martier have been playing together since 2007 and their cohesiveness, talent and camaraderie once again shine through.  According to Reynolds, “Mick and Dan are awesome on every song.  Mick’s is great on everything and Dan basically plays stuff that humans cannot play.”  Reynolds also feels that this album greatly benefitted from the experimentation of Outer Banks recording engineer, Ed Tupper of Swampworks, to help guide them on their satisfying journey.

Like Some Kind of Alien Invasion will be released on October 7, 2014 on both CD and vinyl and TR3 will be touring nationally this fall.

Dirty Impound Interview with Tim

"Tim Reynolds is a ridiculously gifted guitarist, but he has so much fun at his craft and sparks such great things from his cohorts that he doesn’t always get the shredder cred he deserves.  Sure, amphitheatres of Dave Matthews Band fans know the score, but that’s just one aspect of this full spectrum musician, whose appetite for metal, jazz, prog and more infiltrates his work with his trio TR3. What also makes Reynolds a standout is how adept he is on both electric and acoustic guitars, a worthy (and rare) walker of the narrow path John McLaughlin began cutting in the 1960s."  Check out the Q & A with Tim here.

TR3 "From SPACE and Beyond" to be Released June 21!!!

FSAB-front-cover.jpg
"The best I could ever hope for," is how Tim Reynolds describes TR3's first live double CD "From SPACE and Beyond," scheduled for release June 21, 2011.  Culled from three TR3 performances in November 2009 -- at SPACE in Evanston, IL, The Recher Theatre in Towson, MD and the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA -- FSAB has a classic, live rock album feel.  The double CD has a mix of TR3 favorites, two new songs, "I Must be Going Insane" and "Belly of the Beast" which Reynolds first began playing acoustically, but quickly translated it into TR3's electric repertoire, along with a few covers.

The CD is available now for pre-order at the Tim Reynolds Official Store, and will also be available June 21st at HGMN, CDBaby and iTunes.   http://timreynolds.shop.musictoday.com/Dept.aspx?cp=27_47727

Hey all, just a quick note to let you know that TR will be doing what has become a very rare event, a SOLO ACOUSTIC performance. The last solo acoustic TR performance was in March of '09 at the Fur Peace Ranch where TR also gave an acoustic seminar to 12 lucky students.

The upcoming SOLO ACOUSTIC performance is in West Dover, VT at the Mount Snow ski resort in the Snow Barn on January 9th, 2010. You can get more details at TouR Dates

West Dover, VT is only about 65 miles from Albany, NY, 90 miles from Hartford, CT & about 130 miles from Boston, MA. Here is the link to the Mount Snow WEBSITE

For those interested, TR3 will also be doing a short run of TouR dates in the West at the end of January prior to TR heading to Europe with DMB. TR3 TouR Dates

There are also plans for a 4 week run of TR3 dates in April. Watch for those dates to be announced soon.

TR3's "Radiance" was nominated for 2009 ALBUM OF THE YEAR by HomeGrown Music Network. Please stop by the HGMN WEBSITE & vote for TR3 "Radiance" for album of the year!

Also wanted to remind everyone that TR3's most recent CD "Radiance" is also now available on iTunes along with TR's earlier SOLO ACOUSTIC CD "Stream". We are looking to get more titles from TR & TR3 up on iTunes in the not-too-distant future. If you prefer a CD copy of "Radiance" it can be found at the following link: TR3 RADIANCE

Hi friends-

Please sign impeachment petition at www.kucinich.us

With an election right around the corner a lot of people say, "Why seek impeachment now? - Bush will be out of office soon, and the government needs to focus on other things." Impeachment is an official filing of charges, equivalent to to the process of indictment. This attempt is not so much to remove Bush and Cheney from office BUT to hold them accountable for their crimes, and create a record to prevent similar abuse of our democracy in the future. Are we really going to let Bush and Cheney off the hook? If we allow the President and Vice President to 'get away with it', we are openly saying that their type of conduct is permissible in future administrations. Any and all crimes committed by the President and Vice President must be put on the official record to create an historical account, to facilitate future pursuit of law enforcement activities concerning the crimes, to remind future Administrations to adhere to the law, and to avert another looming illegal war - this time against Iran. The Articles of Impeachment put the Administration's crimes officially on record and hold the individuals accountable under domestic and international law, even after they leave office.

What is impeachment? Impeachment is an official investigation of the conduct of the President and Vice President. It is a Constitutional responsibility given to Congress to prevent the abuse of Executive power. Impeachment is a formal filing of charges, similar to the process of indictment. The person impeached would then be subject to a trial in the US Senate.

I am trying to help give Dennis Kucinich 1,000,000 signatures to bring to Congress by Sept 10 to show that we want the Bush Administration charged for it's violations of the Constitution, and that we will not tolerate further crimes. Would you please take a moment to sign an impeachment petition at www.kucinich.us Please circulate this petition to everyone you know who you think would be willing to sign it. The internet is a mighty tool for reaching so many people in such a short amount of time.

FOR ANSWERS TO ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE OR TO VIEW THE ARTICLES, PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT THE IMPEACHMENT FAQ.

Please help bring a call for justice to Congress.

Blue Mountain Artists present the return of TR3 featuring Tim Reynolds

Tim Reynolds has been playing music all of his life. Starting as a bass player in a gospel band in his hometown of St. Louis to his break through band in the 80’s, TR3 and forward to recording with & touring with DMB and the Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds Acoustic Duo. Tim’s progression has continued through his last 8 years on the road as a solo acoustic guitar wizard playing for packed houses who have come to realize this is not just Dave's side man, this is one of the most talented and thoughtful players on the circuit today!!

Now things have come full circle and TR3 is back again in 2008 to rock and funk your house down. The songs will be a mix of updated Tim classics to wild covers of everything from James Brown to Prince to Tim’s newest catalogue of material he is preparing just for this tour.

Tim has spent the last 8 years living in New Mexico but after a sudden move to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 2007 Tim ran across two players that would eventually form this new version of TR3. Mick Vaughn will be on bass. Mick moved to the Outer Banks in 1995 after many years playing in Chicago with Scott Bennett opening for such bands as Jimmy Cliff and Dave Mason. He also recorded with Liz Phair & Dovetail Joint. Mick had been playing locally in OBX for several years until he ran into Tim this past summer. Drummer Dan Martier grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and spent most of the 80’s in various bands playing the club scene 6 nights a week. After teaming up with his wife and powerful soul singer Laura they formed Express in Florida and toured with The B-Side, Wallomatics & various others until being drawn to the Outer Banks in 1989 where he has remained an active player on the local scene. After a chance meeting of the three talented players, a few rehearsals and several stealth appearances around the North Carolina shore Tim realized it was time to get back to the basics…rockin out the way only Tim can.

Starting in 2008 TR3 is back...bigger, stronger and better then ever. For information contact:

Lots to talk about! Benefits, benefits, benefits. The first benefit I would like to draw your attention to is the Oct 21st New Orleans, LA Southport Hall show. The proceeds from the concert will be benefitting Common Ground Relief/New Orleans various community projects. Please take a moment and check out the link provided and see if there is anyway you can help out. These folks are doing alot for the people of New Orleans while so few are actually helping in the rebuilding of this devastated community. That is why we have thrown our support behind them and offered to turn our performance in New Orleans into a benefit to help this organization out. Please help to make it a succesful one. Next, TR just announced a show in Albuquerque, NM on Nov. 6th at the Univ of NM to benefit The Childrens Hospital of Albuquerque. The show is free and they are requesting donations so please give generously and lets see if we can make this a worthwhile event as well. Details are on the TouR Dates page. As you all know TR has a 4 shows coming up with Dave Matthews. The T&D performance in Los Angeles is also a benefit, this one to support the Bama Works Youth Initiative, which focuses on empowering high school students to participate in the process of philanthropy through the hands on selection and execution of various community projects. Bama Works Youth Initiative projects will center on community youth programs including arts, sports and education. These are all great causes worth your generous support, so please look into them and help out in anyway you can. We hope for all of them to be quite successful.

Hey everyone, Just wanted to post a note before we leave on the upcoming run of TR shows. They look to be a short but SWEET run with some great support acts. Please check out "THIS THREAD" for more details. TR had some blistering shows at the Wakarusa Festival in KS. There are reviews of them in the "Show Reviews" forum on the "Message Bored". For information on obtaining TR's performances for Wakarusa please read "this thread". Also of note, on the last run thru CA TR bought some new recording equipment and has been hard at work on new acoustic material that has been stacking up in his brain. So we can look forward to new acoustic music from TR in the not-too-distant future. He has been trying out alot of the new songs at shows so there is another reason to try and catch him over the next few months. He performed quite a few of them at his recent show in Santa Fe and also at both Wakarusa performances. I particularly like the new acoustic song "Ancestors". It's a 2 part song, first part with vocals and second part instrumental. Absolutely beautiful! There are more TouR dates coming for Aug and Sept so please keep watching. Hope to see you out on the road!! Peace Fluffy

Hello Everyone, TR kicked off the new year with shows in CO and IN. We have announced TouR Dates for Feb/Mar and it looks like these shows will most likely be solo acoustic performances as TR tells me he is contemplating taking a break from the electric/drums portion of the show to concentrate more on 12 string endeavors. We will definitely see some new material and prolly some acoustic reworkings of some of TR's more rocking numbers. We will just have to wait and see what the future brings. I do know I am excited at the possibilities. IMAGINE! As for the future, TR's booking agent, Blue Mountain Artists, tells me they are working on some dates for either mid to late March in OK and/or CO and short run of CA in April. If you would like to be updated about new TouR date announcements so you don't miss TR in your area please sign up for TR's email list. You can do that at the following link: "TR's Email List" Beyond April is still wide open so make sure to get on the email list to be kept in the loop. TR also has a couple of shows confirmed for June in KS at the Wakarusa Festival. Well that's the news that's fit to print. Thanx for stopping by and hope to see you at some of the upcoming shows.
