Two GREAT things from that interview.

1. He's going to be doing more solo acoustic tours this year and next year.

2. He's coming out with a dual acoustic CD by the end of the year (I'm not holding my breath on that one though).

Very cool interview!

Maybe I'm too much of a guitar weenie...but I just had to bring it up. The D-35 isn't more bassy because of the 3-piece back. It's more bassy because it has lighter top and back bracing. I'm just saying... ;)

I would've thought at this point he could release a THREE disc album of acoustic stuff! Great article. Thanks for the post Kev.

Well hurry the hell up, Fluffy. How about I just pay like $50 for a copy that doesn't have the artwork? Then I'll just buy the real one once it's released. I've been patiently waiting through the TR3 stuff and all the DMB touring to hear some good ol' TR acoustic. I'm not sure I can hold out much longer...

Rig Rundown for Tim Reynolds of DMB/TR3 (VIDEO)

PG's Chris Kies is On Location at the Qwest Center in Omaha, NE, where he catches up with Dave Matthews Band's lead guitarist Tim Reynolds. In this segment, Reynolds shows us his Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier, Mesa/Boogie 4x12 cabinet, his pedalboard featuring a MXR Line Driver, Way Huge Swollen Pickle, Dunlop Crybaby Wah, Ernie Ball Volume Pedal, and a Moogerfooger Ring Modulator pedal. His current lineup of guitars includes a Gibson Flying V, a Gibson Les Paul Standard, and two H-S-S Strats.

Gonna have to comment on your comment Gnome. Actually the D-35 has more bass because of the three piece back. I think you're thinking of an HD-35 or HD-28. Both of which have scalloped bracing. And do indeed offer more bass because of it. However, the D-35 does not have this feature and therefore has more bass because of said three piece back.

I'm almost there...

Actually, the D-35 does NOT have more bass because of the 3-piece back. The D-35 has more bass because it has 1/4" top bracing (as opposed to the D-28 which has 5/16" top bracing).

The HD-28 and HD-35 have the same sized bracing as their "D" counterparts...but their braces are scalloped (which adds further to the bass response).

We could probably argue in circles here...but I think it's pretty well accepted at this point that the 3-piece back has a negligible impact on the tone of a guitar. But the 1/4" bracing is where the difference is.

Regardless, they are ALL great guitars!
