Story last updated at 3:16 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2006 Former Dave Matthews collaborator Tim Reynolds to perform at Jake's
Recording artist Tim Reynolds will headline a solo acoustic rock concert at 9 p.m. April 1 at Jake's Sports Cafe, 5025-A 50th St. Dr. Skoob & The Acoustic Groove and The Doug Stapp Band will open.
General admission tickets are $14 (includes $2 service charge) and on sale at Select-A-Seat outlets.
Greg Jackson, a manager at Jake's, said, "A buddy of mine made me listen to the 'Live at Luther College' album by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds all the way through on a road trip.
"I remember thinking that Tim's technique and style were unlike anything I had heard before. The first thing I did when I got home was contact his booking agent."
Born in Weisbaden, Germany, the son of a devoutly religious military man, Reynolds said, "We moved around a lot. We lived on a farm in Indiana, then on an Army base in Alaska, then to Kansas, then to Missouri, where we lived the longest. ...I moved to Virginia and was there about 17 years."
Reynolds now lives in Santa Fe, N.M., which he labels "the best place I could be."
His first instrument was electric bass at age 12; he gravitated to guitar and soon also learned how to play sitar, solo djembe, violin and mandolin. He played guitar as a soloist and as a member of power trio TR3.
Reynolds cites as his influences Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Marilyn Manson, Bob Marley, Nine Inch Nails and Led Zeppelin.
His biggest claims to fame are his collaborations with The Dave Matthew Band. He has played on all of the Dave Matthews Band recordings and also joined them on stage many times during international tours.
He and Matthews released the double-disc album "Live at Luther College" in January 1999.
Reynolds' solo albums include "Parallel Universe," "Petroglyph," "Chaos View," "Nomadic Wavelength," "Astral Projection," "Stream," "Gossip of the Neurons," "Sanctuary" and "See Into Your Soul."
